I do not use colourants of any kind on my hair. I had a hairdresser at the house to put my long but fine hair up for a wedding. I had it washed and conditioned ready using my usual products. Just before leaving for the wedding I noticed an unusual smell from my hair much like perming solution or peroxide and there was a tinge of gold almost green in my hair. The next day I washed my hair and the smell was worse and my hair very dry and damaged. The hairdresser said she had not used anything but hairspray on my hair. I was wondering what could have caused my hair to be like this. My daughter who used to be a hairdresser has cut my hair for me says that something has been put on my hair to damage it so much. Can you please help Thank you

Dear Ann, yes this seems very unusual as it sounds like a chemical reaction has occurred causing the hair to become dry ! I can only guess that she may have used a styling product or hair spray that reacted with your products. The reaction will have caused the hair to lift slightly .Do you swim a lot? Build up of chlorine on your hair could react. Do you use a coloured shampoo or henna products as may also react. I suggest deep conditioning and regular cutting to remove the damaged hair.

Hello Deepak. if you have an itchy scalp shampooing daily with a sensitive shampoo will help alleviate this problem. if your hair is shedding more noticeably than usual this can be due to stress or you could be vitamin deficient ! Blood tests usually for iron and vit D will tell if you have a vitamin problem. A multi vitamin with extra D and biotins will help alleviate the shedding

I am so sick of my frizzy hair! I have tried everything from sulphate free shampoo to deep conditioners and frizz remedies and so many different brands! I use hair mousse, I use leave in conditioner, I always rinse my hair in cold water after washing and I use a diffuser. It seems to be dry like straw and I�ve had enough of it! I even made a concoction from things in my cupboard such as peanut butter, lime, coconut oil, olive oil and apple cider vinegar as a hair mask. What do I do? The ends of my hair don�t appear to be split but are rough to touch. I have not coloured my hair so I do not know what is wrong?! Any advice?

Hello vistie, naturally curly hair is lacking in moisture , so make sure any treatments are moisture based not protein based or you could be making the problem worse. Zinc deficiencies can cause the hair to be dry and brittle so a good hair supplement can help your hair from the inside. Use a styling cream on your hair rather than mousse as this can dry hair out , leave to dry naturally or only take the worst of the moisture out with a diffuser. As the hair will form better curls and take moisture in whilst drying naturally.
