Celebrity Stylist for AvedaInspired by the beauty of nature and her love of the mountains and sea, Californian born Gina aimed to create a sanctuary where guests felt completely transformed and renewed. As a result, her four award-winning salons and spas each has its own holistic approach to hair styling and spa treatments and only uses Aveda products; the very best environmentally friendly and ethically produced product range that delivers excellent results.
Gina opened her first Aveda salon in 2001. She now heads a team of 100 and is so in tune with her art that she can pick up a length of hair and pinpoint when something such as a divorce or a job change happened to within about 2 weeks, just from the growth patterns she sees. As a mother of 3 herself, her busy lifestyle informs the services she pioneers such as the Spa Haircut, which is an add on, 15-minute mini facial peel prior to your shampoo making your hair experience a lovely spa service too: perfect for time-pressed clients. From the minute you step through the door everything is geared towards relaxing you, from the beautiful scented candles to the Aveda teas, clever lighting and interior design, chakra sprays and massage with every service. The salon also offers pregnancy treatments and men's services – guys can expect the loan of a t-shirt for their cut so they don't leave with any stray hair in their collar, and a cleanse and refresh: the hair is rinsed following the cut and the face cleansed with a hot towel, toned and moisturized.
Determined to bring a ray of Californian sunshine to London, Gina knew the best way to do business was by making it personal. ‘My mother always taught me to leave the world a better place than I found it,' states Gina. ‘This applies to the environment I live in through recycling, the relationships I have, by making a difference to everyone I meet and employ, and the contribution I make to the world by giving back through charity initiatives. All of these personal philosophies guide my business decisions.'
Gina's mission has always been to bring joy to clients through impeccable customer service, a professional and educated team and a big warm welcome. Gina uses natural, ethical products that are also environmentally conscious. The Gina Conway Salons and Spas all conserve water locally by placing water restrictions on all faucets and monitoring their carbon footprints.
With over twenty years of cutting and styling experience, Gina has worked alongside designers at London and Paris Fashion Weeks and has extensive editorial experience working on shoots for Vogue Italia and Vogue Japan. In 2008, Gina won UK Entrepreneur of the Year at the Global Salon Business Awards and the Best New Salon of the Year at the 2010 Professional Beauty Awards. She now has an AVEDA Fashionista Award 2013 to add to her collection of over 20 awards.
Gina and her artistic team of stylists and beauty therapists have trained with the Aveda Institute; so clients always receive a five star service with the best technical expertise available. ‘I am inspired by people' says Gina. ‘Everyone has true beauty and I love to find it. No one leaves the salon unless they look like they have just walked out of a magazine shoot. I want hair to have the glossiness and finish of perfection. We do a lot of amazing Aveda Botanical conditioning treatments, which leave the hair in incredible condition and give it natural shine and bounce. I also do a lot of personalizing the cut when the hair is dry so I can shape it to the person's natural texture. You get a better idea of the hair and how it will sit when it is going to be styled at home so you can maintain it every day.'
The four Gina Conway Salons and Spas are located in Notting Hill, Wimbledon, Chelsea and Fulham and offer a full range of hair, beauty and spa treatments along with the complete range of Aveda products.
