Biography and Latest Hairstyle Collections of Karine Jackson
Organic Colour Expert“I always had a passion for hairdressing and couldn't wait to leave school to start!” says Karine. “I started my basic training at 15 and received the best knowledge in those skills which has carried me to where I am today. As soon as I finished my training (4 years standard in Australia) and got my licence, the big city was calling. At 20 I jumped on a plane and travelled a bit before coming to London to see where all the major fashion action happened - hair and clothes fashion is intrinsic with London to any young Aussie... I worked for a London salon from 1991-1995 before returning to Australia with my Londoner boyfriend and marrying him...”
Karine then spent two years working for one of Australia's top Stylists, Fiona Heslop, managing her team and learning the art of hair up. Within 18 months she had won the New South Wales State Championships for total look gaining a place in the Australian Championships. Heading back to London in 1997, Karine started an Art Team at her former salon and won the Wella Creative Team award. The following year, she joined Charles Worthington: “I worked really hard with the industry leaders and moved up the ranks quickly, learning so much as I went along. I was on the international Art team and travelled to Greece, Ireland and many other countries teaching Advance cutting and colouring, and working on stage at the likes of Salon International. I was Deputy Manager at the flagship Percy Street salon, then went on to manage their Covent Garden salon. I won many awards at Charles Worthington but my proudest and favourite was a little red car for being their Performer of the Year in 2001!”
In 2003 Karine decided it was time to take the plunge on her own, “which had always been a big dream. I had never really planned to open in the West End, thinking I'd return to Sydney. I went home for a few months to but very quickly realised that London was where it's at; to me it's the setting for fashion. I had worked here for 10 years and couldn't leave.” So, Karine Jackson opened in Litchfield St, a fabulous airy salon in a stunning listed building 2 doors away from the Ivy restaurant, “and the adventure began!” Anyone who visits Karine's salon raves about the fantastic service and gorgeous colour and cuts, and particularly Karine's incredible skills and personable nature. “Training is one of our top priorities in the salon and the team rises to this and loves the high standards. It keeps us all fresh and up to date with world trends and fashion,” says Karine.
