Spring Trends 2016
Super straight
As seen on the catwalks of Mary Katrantzou and Givenchy, poker straight hair is still as on trend as it always has been. It is time to pull out your straighteners again as combined with a sharp centre parting, this look is slick and sophisticated and is perfect for both day or night. Chloe Grace Moretz and Ashley Greene have perfected this style.GET THE LOOK! Soft, sleek hair is the trick to nailing this look so smooth a natural oil such as coconut or argan oil over wet hair to reduce the look of frizz. A heat protection spray will also reduce damage to your hair which can lead to the look of split ends and ensure you brush your hair thoroughly beforehand as straightening over knotty hair can cause breakage. Style small sections of hair at a time to eliminate kinks and finish with spray to hold.
Pastel hues
The Spring season is renowned for its bursts of colour so adding soft hints of cool pastel colours will definitely freshen up your look. Less brazen than the typical bold hair dyes, a pastel wash will elevate your look and create lots of character without being too over the top.GET THE LOOK! Whilst being more costly, a professional colour is definitely better for less damaging and longer lasting results. After colouring, use a hair mask to nourish and condition your hair so your colour stays looking glossy. If dye is too permanent for your preference, clip in coloured extensions create an instantly edgy yet temporary look.
Chunky braids
Braids are an eternally on trend style but have had particular prominence in SS16 catwalk shows. From fishtails to traditional plaits, this style is both practical yet stunning for everyday wear. Add some pretty flowers throughout the braid for some seasonal support or add plaits to long, loose hair for extra subtle detail. As seen on Asgar favourite Eva Longoria, this style is a winner when looking for some Spring time charm.GET THE LOOK! A messy braid gives a cool, relaxed vibe so there is no need to spend ages perfecting it. Once secured with a head band, pull the plait gently apart starting from the head and working your way down to add volume.
Punk fringes
Punk up your look by adding a chunky, blunt fringe this season. A modern take on the traditional bangs, this style is slightly shorter than the classic bangs adding instant character and edge. Supermodel and Queen of the fringe Suki Waterhouse demonstrates how it is done whilst Rita Ora styles in temporary bangs to get the same effect. This revamped classic is a definite winner.GET THE LOOK! Healthy looking hair is key to create a sharp, clean shape. A fresh cut will keep hair looking thick and will keep the ends of the fringe neat. Roll a barrel brush through the fringe when drying to add natural volume and keep it full looking.
Headbands
Go for the classic school look by wearing a headband this Spring. As seen on the Givenchy SS16 catwalk, the headband is bringing back geek chic/boho hippy vibes and shows professionalism yet oozes contemporary style. Looking smart and sophisticated, Kendall Jenner keeps hair sleek and smooth with a wide black, elastic headband.GET THE LOOK! The best thing about this look is that hair can be both slick and straight of voluminous and curly depending on your natural hair type and the look you're going for. If you're looking for minimal effort yet maximum impact, this is the style for you. Just ensure your hair is brushed backwards from the crown so they headband sits securely.
