Anna Sorbie, bridal hair and beauty specialist and founder of bridal consultancy, annasorbie.com, predicts the top three bridal make-up trends of Autumn/Winter 2016, as inspired by the new season's top beauty trends.

Fruit of the forest lips

Lips that had been stained with the deepest darkest berry shades were the standout beauty trend of the new season. With models' mouths painted blackcurrant, deep raspberry and black cherry at so many of the Fashion Week A/W16 shows – including Rodarte, Erdem and Louis Vuitton – dark dramatic lips are likely to be a popular make-up request from brides for winter weddings this year.

When recreating this look, take style inspiration from Christian Dior's A/W16 show, where models mouths were painted the colour of morello cherries, skin was bare, pale and ethereal-looking and eyes were defined by little more than bold lashes. The nude eyes and skin keep the look from veering in to gothic territory. Lips should be finished with a glossy mirrored shine, which looks stunning both on the big day and in the photos afterwards.

To keep the look really on-trend, eyebrows shouldn't look too defined or overly groomed: a natural, slightly brushed-up brow, with just a little light definition is advised. This look is perfect paired with an elegant, vintage-style column dress and fuss-free hair that's pulled away from the face, so that all eyes are on the main attraction: that juicy, berry-stained pout.

All that glitters

This isn't a trend that all brides will want to follow, however for any bride looking to stand out even more on their wedding day, this huge A/W16 beauty trend will certainly tick that box. Glitter make-up and facial embellishment will both be huge trends for the new season.

At Giambattista Valli, models wore barely-there make-up with a stripe of silver glitter under their eyebrows, or on their eyelids, while at Anthony Vaccarello, the look was less subtle, with heavy dark eyes paired with winged silver jewelled eyeliner.

A great way to incorporate this trend in to bridal make-up is by taking inspiration from Kenzo and just adding a hint of silver glitter to the inner corners of the eyes. It draws light towards the eyes, making them appear fresher and brighter, without the glitter being too noticeable.

Another top tip to recreating this look for brides is to keep the rest of the face – eyes, lips and skin – as natural as possible.

Illuminated skin

A perfect complexion is a wedding day essential: all brides want their skin to appear imperfection-free, as healthy as possible and glowing on their big day.

While healthy glowing skin has also been popular on the catwalk for a while now, A/W16 complexions are set to look more glowing and more radiant than ever before, if the Gucci, Valentino and Prabal Gurung A/W16 shows are anything to go by.

To recreate this ethereal level of radiance, use an iridescent powder as a finishing product on skin, applying it to cheekbones, brow-bones, the inner corner of eyelids, and the cupids bow.

Avoid gel or liquid products to recreate the shimmer, as these tend to be less subtle and can often make skin appear greasy or sweaty in the photos. A peach-toned blusher on the apples of cheeks will complete the glow.

The finished look should be that of skin that appears to have been lit from within.
