The Hair Colour Trends We Can Expect to See in 2017
Colour and Style expert, Symon May, from The Chapel, reveals what he thinks will be the big hair colour trends to watch out for this year.
The "fear" has gone.
2017 is the year that people will start to say goodbye to what's holding them back when it comes to hair colour. People are going to slowly start to move away from the subtle highlights we are so used to and start to make bigger, bolder and braver choices. This will be the year where people are happy to experiment, they will be able to see the potential a bit more and let go of the old idea that hair should always look ‘natural',Moving over to the dark side...
In the past, dark hair such black had somewhat negative connotations with people linking it to being ‘gothic' for example. Thankfully, those days are now behind us, and with the newfound bravery that 2017 will bring, so will the return to the dark side. People now want to make a statement and there is no better way to do that than by using bold colours to make your features really stand out. This year we will be seeing a lot more experimentation with blacks and dark greys.Prints and shapes in hair
Continuing along with the theme of making a statement, we will be seeing more people embracing bold prints and patterns in their hair. These were huge last year and could be seen all over the catwalks. There are lots of different ways to experiment with shapes and patterns, but one I developed at The Chapel was a way of doing it either by using sponge printing or stencilling. These styles have been really successful so far, and the idea of applying colour in seemingly random and shapes and places will continue to grow in the coming year. The Lucille Ball
Lucille Ball was one of America's most beloved comedians, best known for her self-produced sitcoms. She is one of those stars who will never truly die and the same goes for her iconic hair colour. Her tone is one we are going to be seeing a lot more this year - it's a perfect marigold/rose colour. I think it's perfect for summer and we will be seeing quite a bit of this in the summer months.Hidden Fun
Even though we will be seeing a lot of bold and ‘out there' colour, we are also going to see a lot of small hints. Let's be honest - bold bold bold isn't always for everyone, so what about colour for the more subtle among us? Well that's where the idea of hidden fun comes in. In 2017 we will see cheeky hints of mad colour and patterns subtly placed inside someone's haircut.True Blondes
No more wishy-washy blonde colours. 2017 will see the rise of blondes that don't mess, we will be seeing a lot more icy white or really gold colours. They are bold, they make a statement and they will be ruling the catwalks.Article by The Chapel
