Re-creating Vanessa Hudgeons new hairstyle

Simon Cox, Managing Director of Clipso St Albans and Sara Stockley Colour Specialist at Clipso St Albans share their top tips on re-creating Vanessa Hudgeons fiery new hue, perfectly suited to autumn.


Colour

1. Starting with the roots, use more of a natural depth colour and apply by dragging with the edge of a tint brush, as this allows getting a softer edge and encourages the colour to blend.

2. With the mid lengths you would use a dark red colour, again start applying the colour with a tint brush, then start twisting the colour with your fingers through the hair. Start from where you have applied colour on the end of the roots to the beginning of the mid length section

3. Then use a pre lightener on the ends of the hair, and repeat the twisting effect so all colours naturally blend. Then tone the pre lightener section with a red toner for maximum brightness.


Style

1. Begin with wet towel dried hair and apply a small amount of L'Oréal Professionnel Tecni Art Volume Lift to your roots

2. Using a softer mousse, apply sparingly to the lengths, this will add texture to your tresses.

3. Then blow-dry using a large bristle brush in order to achieve maximum lift at the roots.

4. Once dry spritz with a ghd curl hold spray and then tong with the ghd Curve Classic Wave Wand through the length and ends.

5. Lastly Brush through hair to loosen the curls and add softness, then finish with a texture spray to secure.

“The baseline of this look will have blunt cut, its then after when you can add the softness and the shattered effect on the ends. I would do this by lightly razor cutting to create the shattered effect; I would also repeat this with longer layers, still using a razor to keep the length. This will also allow you to keep the weight in shape without losing the heavy top shape.” Simon Cox
