David asks:
I suffer from seborrhoic dermatitis which is worse in the Winter what products should I use to help.
Answered By: Tony Maleedy
Seborrhoic dermatitis can be classed as a severe form of dandruff. The main difference between this and common dandruff being that there is an underlying inflammation which renders the scalp tissues more tender and sensitive than with simple dandruff. Seb derm responds well to soothing and calming products such as the Scalp Improvement Shampoo. This is a blend of juniper tar, tea tree oil and thyme oil in a mild cleansing base. It clears scale and reduces the inflammation very well. Seb derm is often linked to diet and general health. Try to cut down on rich, fatty foods and make sure you are getting plenty of exercise. Generally, we tend to be fitter and have a healthier diet in summer than winter, these are possible reasons you notice the condition is worse in winter.

Laura asks:
I recently dyed my hair with bleach and colour and while I am not allergic to the products used it has left me with terrible dandruff and a very itchy scalp. I have used anti dandruff shampoo which not only stripped the hair colour but it burned me as my scalp is not sensitive and when using non sulphate colour shampoo it had no effect on the dandruff. I am out of ideas and just want to find a shampoo that can help with my dandruff issue while not destroying my colour, any help?

Hello Laura
May I suggest you use something like Almond oil, warmed whilst in the bottle. Massage it in to your scalp and leave overnight if possible, use an old pillowcase so as not to ruin it. This will re moisturize as well as hopefully soothe and calm the scalp. I don’t think you have dandruff just a very dry flaky scalp most likely caused by the colours active ingredients and then the high PH of the dandruff shampoo. So try a shampoo for sensitive scalp and colour protectors there are lots to choose from in professional salons as well as on the high street. This will re balance the natural PH of your scalp and won’t strip the scalp or colour. ...More >
