Polished hair is in - unruly hair out
Kerry Capewell, hairdresser and hair care expert at Naturtint gives her top tips for keeping your hair looking polished in 2016.
The first thing to do is ensure you have a regular trim every 6-8 weeks to ensure that the ends of the hair are blunt and free from split ends.
If you colour your hair, it's important to keep it vibrant and healthy looking so you achieve that all round polished look. Choose a good quality shampoo to suit your colour colour maintenance shampoos and conditioners are not an unnecessary expense they have been specifically designed to work with hair dyes to maintain a longer-lasting colour. It's a good investment. Try Naturtint Shampoo with extracts of organic eucalyptus and rosemary oils and bio lemon fruit and sunflower to gently cleanse without stripping colour
If you do colour your hair opt for an ammonia-free product. Ammonia-free colours are less aggressive on the hair's cuticle and therefore a gentler which will result in a far more healthier and polished look.
Remember to rinse your hair in cool water! We all know warm water opens our hair cuticles to allow shampoo and conditioner to do their job but you also need to end the process by rinsing your hair in cold water. This will help close the hair cuticles and seal in moisture from the conditioner, leaving you with shiny and healthy hair.
One of the worst things you can do is overheat your hair with excessive blow-drying and the over use of curling tongs or straighteners, as these can damage the hair resulting in dry and dull locks. To achieve that freshly polished hair look, try to reduce the amount of times you use heating products on your hair and at least once a week try to allow your hair to dry naturally
Most importantly, always use heat- protecting products.
Central heating can dry out hair like your skin, which can result in unhealthy and unruly looking hair. Be sure to treat your hair to a leave-in conditioning product at least once a week to keep it hydrated. Try Naturtint's Anti-Ageing CC Cream, this NEW hair care essential will leave you with healthier, shinier and sleeker hair, resulting in a far more polished look.
Your diet is so important when it comes to your hair health, so remember to eat plenty of food that is rich in Vitamin B, which helps to rejuvenate hair follicles and is also known to reduce hair thinning.
