The Barranquilla native Shakira was born 2nd February 1977, she is a Colombian singer-song writer, dancer and model.

Shakira released her first studio albums in the early 1990 failing to retain commercial success. Shakira rose to prominence in Latin America with her major-label debut ‘Pies Descalzos’ in 1996 and her fourth album ‘Dónde Están los Landrones?’ in 1998.

Shakira entered the English-language market with her fifth album ‘Laundry Service’ it’s lead single ‘Whenever, Wherever’ became the best-selling single of 2002. Her success was continued with her sixth and seventh albums ‘Fijación Oral, Vol. 1’ and ‘Oral Fixation, Vol. 2’ 2005 of which then spawned the best-selling song of the 21st century ‘Hips Don’t Lie’. Her official song for the 2010 Fifa World Cup ‘Waka Waka (This time for Africa)’ became the biggest selling World Cup song of all time.

In 2000 Shakira vegan dating Argentinian lawyer Antonio de la Rúa, the couple never got married and in an interview in 2009 Shakira stated that their relationship already worked as a married couple and ‘they don’t need papers for that’. In 2011 Shakira announced that after 11 years together the couple had separated in August 2010.

Shakira is currently in a relationship with the Barcelona FC play Gerard Piqué which was begun to start in March 2011. In September 2012 Shakira announced that her and Gerard were expecting their first child together. Shakira gave birth to the couples son, Milan in January 2013 in Barcelona.
