Winter Colour Trends

Is it good to go darker with your hair for winter?
Going darker for the winter will give the hair a break from lightening, whether that is from the sun or chemical, which generally occurs throughout the summer months. Choosing a darker shade will make the hair appear healthier and promote shine – however don't go too dark or you'll risk washing your complexion out.

What are the hair colour trends that are big for Winter ?
There are three main colour trends this fall, all of which will suit paler winter complexions
Silver blonde - overall light to platinum blonde with multi-dimensional reflects ranging in intensity from intensely grey to subtly silver, a nod to the catwalk shows of Prada and Marc Jacobs and as seen on Marina Diamandis (Marina and the Diamonds) and Alexis Mabille.

Rose Gold – Dark copper blonde to a light a light apricot. For Fall 2013 designers used shades of salmon, copper, sienna, amber and brunt nude – often in high shine and mineral finishes which translate into the shades seen on Isla Fisher and Nicole Kidman.
Icy Brown – Dark ashy brown to a matte chocolate. Designers used antique bronze and icy brown fabrics which lead to us seeing the use of minky, smokey and ashy shades in the hair – think Mila Kunis, Jessica Alba and Nicole Scherzinger.

What advice do you have for someone that likes to change their colour regularly?
For someone wanting to change their colour regularly I have great news – L'Oreal's new hair chalk dramatically change a look in an instant whilst only lasting for 2-4 washes (depending on how much product is applied). They come in a varied range of colours from black right through to bottle green; for the more daring of customers it's a non-committal approach. For clients who like to have something a little longer lasting, toners are a great product; they add warmth and can give you a colour changed that will last up to 6 weeks. L'Oreal's Dia Lights Huge colour range gives perfect tone on tone colour whilst leaving the hair super glossy and shiny (this is due the absence of ammonia)

How do you keep dark hair looking shiny and glossy?
In addition to help maintain a beautiful colour, use a Kerastase chroma-captive shampoo and conditioner, then finish with L'Oreal Mythic Oil as this will help smooth the cuticle and give a glass-like finish.

What is your favourite look and hairstyle this fall?
My favourite look this fall for sure is a textured chunky square bob with a broken fringe; its edgy yet still feminine.
