Westrow - Spring - Summer 2015 Colour Trends
by Jenny Pelter, Technical Director, Westrow Artistic Team And Franchisee, Westrow Street LaneUNDERGROUND RAWNESS
For this trend, think that late-60s New York City underground punk scene full of attitude with a touch of expensive glamour, with dishevelled choppy bobs, coloured globally with bold dramatic raw colours like ice-cool, ash blondes or dark, ebony hues. Marc Jacobs and Jean Pierre Braganza embraced this edgy, underground punk look this season. The cool colour palette is a break from the norm of typically clean honey and summery cream tones. The cool underground punk trend allows us to explore our dark side using muted, dense metallic tones. This trend is about creating a powerful, no nonsense colour that works with the simplicity of dishevelled cuts.
POLISHED PRETTY
Effortless hair and colour made a huge impact at shows like Marchesa, Victoria Beckham and Versace. Polished, understated colour placed on soft, natural looking hair, is the key to this trend. Hair should be painted with freckles of colour, rather than over-dyed and over-styled. Many of the Fashion Week shows proved less is definitely more, showcasing virginal hair. A natural balayage of creamy ice blonde pieces on a brunette background of soft mocha tones with rich chocolate hues are the perfect pigments for this understated trend.
PASTEL MADNESS
Pastels are set to return this season with a twist. Eyebrows matched the colours within the hair, creating a spectrum of pastel fun. Badgley Mischka showcased youthful dreamy hair with a dusting of pastel blues, greens and pinks entwined to enhance dishevelled, textured styles. This look is ideal for clients that like to embrace fashion with their hair. Coloured conditioners or Hair Chalk are fantastic for creating the pastel hues, which have been popular for the past few summers and I believe, will be again for S/S15.
