Bride: Lily Allen (Singer)
Groom: Sam Cooper (Building Company Owner)
Venue: St James the Great Church, Cranham, near Stroud, Gloucestershire
Date: 11 June, 2011
Hair: Worn loose with soft waves at the back and a straight side swept
fringe. The long lace veil, fell from an elaborate lace flower headdress, reminiscent
of the 1920’s.
Vows: The ceremony was a very private one. Lily walked up the aisle on
the arm of her father, Keith (the comedian and actor). The couple are thought
to have turned down a £1.5 million magazine deal, with several competing for exclusive
rights. Lily went to great lengths to keep it a family affair, paying for extra
police to keep fans and press away. Two roads, three bridleways and five footpaths
were closed.
Dress by: Delphine Manivet – vintage-inspired empire line lace gown over
an underdress with a sweetheart neckline, long lace sleeves and a tiered fishtail
lace insert. The designer who was recommended to the bride by a friend, said it
was inspired by the 1970s and 1990s. It also brought back memories of Kate Middleton’s
wedding dress. Lily visited France three times for dress fittings in recent months
- perhaps to make extra adjustments for her pregnancy, which was confirmed to
the waiting press on the wedding day.
Lily wore a full-length veil with lace flower embellishments on each side. The
look was completed with a pair of Rupert Sanderson platform peep-toe shoes.
Bridesmaid Miquita Oliver (T4 presenter) is one of Lily’s childhood friends and
wore peach, while the younger bridesmaids were in white.
Bouquet: English country garden pale cream and peach roses with blue blossoms.
Groom’s attire: Navy blue single breasted suit with matching waistcoat,
grey tie and white shirt.
Wedding cars: Their own vintage Bentley
Reception: The country ‘cricket tea’ reception was held in the garden of
the couple’s nearby 17th Century country home. A 12-year-old DJ called Ted Lavender
or ‘Ted at the Controls’ is thought to have provided the dance music – he has
played at several festivals and spins a mixture of reggae and ska.
Honeymoon: The happy couple are planning to honeymoon at Glastonbury with
family and friends in luxury tepees, which was where they met in 2009.
Number of guests: Fewer than 100 close family and friends attended the
wedding.
