Bride: Kate Moss (Supermodel)
Groom: Jamie Hince (Rock band guitarist)
Venue: St Peter’s Church, Southrop, Cotswolds
Date: 1st July 2011
Vows: Kate arrived at the church in a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, with her
father and eight-year-old daughter Lila (from a previous relationship with publisher
Jefferson Hack). A further six Rolls Royces transported the bridal party through
streets that had been cordoned-off, by prior arrangement with Gloucestershire
County Council. Police redirected traffic as the main road through the town was
closed for 700 metres.
An intimate private church wedding then took place, with the service lasting 45 minutes, conducted by Rev Harry Macinnes. The vicar had stated at the rehearsal the day before: “Kate is very much a part of our community.”
Unusually, there was no ‘best man’, but a ‘best woman’ – Jamie had elected his bandmate Alison Mosshart to organise his stag do, look after the ring and give a speech.
Dress by: John Galliano – vintage-style cream bias-cut long trained dress,
shaped bodice and sheer diaphanous skirt with gold embroidered peacock feathers
and sprinkling of rhinestones. Kate wore a long sweeping 1920’s style cap veil
with flower embroidery.
Manolo Blahnik created a special pair of wedding shoes with a blue insole, for Kate’s something blue.
The 14 bridesmaids wore white chiffon dresses with a gypsy-style neckline and tiered hem. Kate’s former casting agent Jess Hallett was her maid-of-honour and wore a blue Stella McCartney full length dress with deep frilled neckline.
Bouquet: Delicate rose posy
Jewellery: The couple exchanged simple gold wedding bands. Apart from her
diamond engagement ring, Kate just wore a diamond bracelet.
Hair: Sam McKnight styled Kate’s hair in loose waves (her regular hairdresser
James Brown was on the guest list). Surprisingly, Kate’s blonde locks showed evidence
of dark roots and started to unravel as the day wore on.
Jamie’s hair however, held its style and he looked every inch the ‘rock’ dude.
Kate’s make-up was light and in keeping with a country rose look, created by Charlotte Tilbury. Kate’s nails were very short and appeared to have no more than a coat of clear varnish.
Groom’s attire: Stefano Pilati for YSL – light blue suit, blue striped
shirt and sunglasses
Photographer: Mario Testino (thought to have taken photos for a Vogue spread)
Wedding cars: Rolls Royce x7
Reception: Several marquees in Kate’s sprawling £2 million estate in Little
Farington, Oxfordshire, for a three-day “Mosstonbury” or music-filled celebration.
The reception was catered for by The Dorchester and Ritz Paris hotels and included
a masquerade ball with guests selecting from a chest of handmade Venetian masks.
Baroque music, acrobats and a table full of Venetian food and a fountain of expensive
Cristal champagne.
There were also vegan and fish menus available and wine from the Cotes du Rhone.
A dedicated children’s marquee, catered for the younger guests with a team of
ten nannies and drama teachers.
The entertainment was provided by some big names, Shirley Bassey, Snoop Dog, Iggy Pop, Bryan Ferry and Beth Ditto.
Honeymoon: After 3 days of celebrations, Kate and Jamie finally tore themselves
away for their honeymoon. Wearing a Stella McCartney white trouser suit Kate and
her new husband were air-lifted by helicopter from a field near their £2 million
home to an airport. They are honeymooning in Thailand or touring Africa.
Cost: £1 million – the five-tier cake cost £10,000. Kate’s father Peter
paid £50,000 towards the nuptials and Sir Peter Green is also thought to have
made a generous contribution towards the event.
Number of guests: approx 300, including Kate’s ex-partner Jefferson Hack,
the father of their daughter Lila.
Special guests: Naomi Campbell who arrived at the church with seconds to
spare and dashed in just ahead of the bride. Also present were Sadie Frost, her
10-year-old daughter Iris, was one of the bridesmaids and her youngest son Rudy
aged 7, was a page boy, Jude Law also attended, as did Stella McCartney, Sir Paul
McCartney, Bryan Ferry, Jade Jagger, Anna Wintour and Kelly Osbourne.
Engagement: Jamie moved in with Kate about 18 months ago and after consulting
her friend Peter Green about the engagement ring, he flew out to join her on holiday
in Mustique and proposed on her 36th birthday. It was reportedly, the second time
he had asked her to marry him, but she hadn’t given him an answer.
Kate’s dad Peter has said about his son-in-law "Rest assured, Kate’s been around
for a while and has had plenty of opportunities to work out the good guys from
the bad ones.
"I think her judgement is very good. Jamie’s a true gent and very down-to-earth. Kate has done very well for herself. Jamie rang me and asked for my daughters hand in marriage, which I thought was very traditional."
Where did they meet? They have been a couple for three and a half years
and met 3 months after Kate split with Pete Doherty for the last time. They were
introduced by their mutual friend Sadie Frost, while backstage at a Kills gig.
