Venue: Church of St Mary Magdalene, in the grounds of the 4-star Stapleford
Park hotel, Leicestershire
Date: 30 June 2011
Vows: Trained falcons swooped in to present the wedding rings!
Dress by: A bespoke creation by Giles Deacon. Giles said, ‘She wanted a
dress that was very flattering; very worked in its detailing; with a big romantic
skirt that was cool not prissy.’ The dramatic white dress, which took 6 weeks
to make and was reported to have cost £10,000, had a strapless, long-line lace
bodice which fanned into an oversized fishtail skirt that gave way to a beautiful
ripple-effect, rough cut train.
Abbey has previously modelled for Giles Deacon.
Bouquet: Simple posy of white roses.
Jewellery: Diamond drop earrings, silver bracelet and of course, that stunning
£200,000 diamond ring.
Hair: Long, loose waves styled by celebrity hairdresser Leo Bancroft.
Groom’s attire: Black three-piece suit and white tie.
Photographer: The couple did not sell their photos to any magazines, nor
did they have an official photographer, instead opting to have a few photos in
the grounds of the hotel with the general press.
Wedding cars: Blue Bentley.
Reception: After tying the knot, the pair emerged from the church to toast
their nuptials with glasses of bubbly. They then joined their 150 guests at a
lavish reception complete with three-course meal and endless entertainment including
a live band, a magician and karaoke, at the hotel’s restaurant, the Orangery.
Reportedly, their respective parents were banned from the top table and the couple
invited friends to sit with them instead. As part of the entertainment, Peter
surprised his new bride with a performance by soul singer Beverley Knight who
had been smuggled into the hotel grounds under a coat in the back of a car with
blacked-out windows.
First dance: ‘Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own’, U2
Honeymoon: The couple jetted to Ibiza 4 days after their wedding without 3-month
old daughter Sophia.
The couple also had a pre-wedding holiday in Sardinia with little Sophia in early June.
Number of guests: Approx. 150 guests attended the wedding.
The couple booked the entire four-star Stapleford Hotel for their relatives and friends – some rooms costing over £685 per night.
Special guests: Liverpool’s Glen Johnson and former Aston Villa player
Lee Hendrie.
Engagement: After dating for 4 years, Peter proposed to Abbey on bended
knee whilst holidaying in Sardinia in July 2009. Abbey’s diamond ring cost £200,000.
Where did they meet? Abbey and Peter met at a friend’s party at Liverpool
bar Mosquito in 2005.
History: Abbey and Peter have been together for six years. They split up
in 2006 during the European cup in Germany because of allegations of drug use
by Abbey but got back together soon after. Then in the summer of 2010, allegations
of Peter paying teenage prostitute Monica Mint for sex at a Madrid stag weekend
rocked the relationship again. In April 2011, Abbey dismissed claims that Peter
had visited Norwegian Air Hostess Suzanne Thunestveit in her Dubai hotel room
in the early hours of the morning while she was heavily pregnant back home in
England. Abbey gave birth to their first child, Sophia Ruby on 14 March 2011.
