Sir Paul McCartney
&
Nancy Shevell
Bride: American heiress Nancy Shevell, 51.

Groom: English musician, singer-songwriter and composer Paul McCartney, (Macca) 69.

Venue: London’s Westminster registry office at The Old Marylebone Town Hall (where McCartney married his first wife, the late Linda McCartney, in 1969.)

Date: Sunday 9th October 2011 (this would have been John Lennon’s 71st birthday)

Ceremony: The intimate service was conducted by Superintendent Registrar Alison Cathcart.

Dress by: Ivory knee-length gown, designed by Paul’s daughter, fashion designer Stella McCartney, which boasted button detail down the front and on the sleeves.

Flowers: Simple bouquet of mixed coloured roses

Jewellery: Solitaire diamond ring £400,000. The bride was given a vintage-style diamond eternity band encrusted with five carats of square cut diamonds set in platinum.

Hair: Nancy’s hair was worn down, with loose waves around her shoulders and accessorised with a cream-coloured rose.

Bridesmaid: Beatrice, Sir Paul’s seven year old daughter with ex-wife Heather Mills. She wore a pretty cream dress, a rose pink coat, cream ballet slippers and a floral headdress.

Groom’s attire: Smart navy suit and a light blue tie.

Wedding Car: A chauffeur drove Sir Paul’s own dark maple red hybrid Lexus Ls 600hL. The vehicle costs £84,000, but was a gift to him from the motor company (he has helped promote the hybrid vehicle). A long standing vegetarian, Sir Paul’s passion for everything concerning animal rights and the environment, meant that he had replaced the leather interior with a hand-stitched green woven cloth.
However, when Sir Paul took delivery of his ‘eco car’ he was said to be horrified that it had been flown in from Japan, instead of arriving by ship as expected. Flying the car to Britain resulted in a carbon footprint 100 times bigger (38,050kg) than if it had come by sea (397kg).

Best Man: Mike McCartney, Sir Paul’s son.

Photographer: Sir Paul’s daughter Mary.

Reception:
Held in huge marquee in the garden of Sir Paul’s £8million St John’s Wood mansion. Around £10,000 of pastel-coloured roses and white hydrangeas lined the entrance to the marquee which was adorned with Sir Paul’s collection of art, including some priceless Picassos. Guests dined on vegetarian fare including an arugula and basil salad, goat cheese polenta, savory tarts and dumplings and drank non-vintage Dumangin Grande Reserve champagne at £26.50 a bottle. Posh Puds Patisserie created two wedding cakes - one chocolate and one apple vegan. The newlyweds danced to Beyoncé’s Crazy in Love, Amy Winehouse’s hit Valerie and The Beatles’ own Paperback Writer. Sir Paul later performed Ticket to Ride and Let It Be before DJ Mark Ronson took to the turntables,

First dance:
A song Sir Paul had composed and recorded for his bride entitled My Valentine.

Honeymoon: Mick Jagger’s luxury villa, Stargroves, on the Island of Mustique in the West Indies.

Cost of wedding: Estimated to have cost £50,000.
After lavishing 1.5 million on his previous marriage to Heather Mills, this one came in at less than half the price of Mill’s dress!

Number of guests: 30 at the ceremony, 100 at the reception. (Compared to over 300 at an Irish Castle when he married Heather Mills)

Special guests: Pianist Jools Holland, Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri, artist Tracey Emin, model Twiggy, Ringo Starr and wife Barbara Bach, Kate Moss, Twiggy, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour, Barbara Walters (who is Shevell’s cousin) and George Harrison’s widow, Olivia. McCartney’s four children - Mary, James, Stella and Beatrice - were also reportedly in attendance

Engagement: Sir Paul proposed to Nancy in New York in May 2011. He was said to have got down on one knee and presented her with a £400,000 rare 5-plus carat diamond ring designed in the art deco style. Made of platinum, the ring sports a huge flawless round diamond, as a centrepiece, with strips of black onyx along the sides, giving it a vintage feel.
Sir Paul consulted celebrity jeweller Neil Lane, who helped him select the giant sparkler.
It certainly outshone the £15,000 sapphire and diamond ring he presented to Heather Mills for their engagement ‘ouch’!

Where did they meet? They met in the upmarket Hampton area of Long Island in the United States. Their courtship began with a couple of low-key meetings during the summer of 2007, a few months after Sir Paul’s separation from Heather Mills. Nancy had also separated from her husband. Her divorce was completed 9 December, 2008. Within 12 months, Shevell and McCartney were nearly inseparable.

They have not signed a prenuptial agreement. Nancy is an Heiress to a substantial fortune, thought to be in the region of £250 million (she is Vice President of the New England Motor Freight company. A business built and controlled by her father Myron Shevell since 1976.
Paul McCartney’s fortune is thought to be in the region of £495m, having been marginally dented by the divorce settlement of £24.3m paid to his previous wife Heather Mills.

Shevell and McCartney’s combined wealth will exceed £750m.
