Warren
Holmes styles Danny O'Donoghue's hair for The Voice
International Creative Director of Nicky Clarke, and recent
winner of Backstage Stylist of the Year 2012 at the HAIR Magazine
Awards, Warren Holmes, is in demand. Amongst shooting for
Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green clothing label and presenting
at Professional Hairdresser Live, Warren was requested by
Danny O'Donoghue to style his hair for a cover shoot with
Fabulous magazine.
Danny
O'Donoghue, lead singer of The Script sits alongside Tom Jones,
Jessie J and will.i.am as the fourth judge on the BBC's primetime
show, The Voice. Stepping away from his trademark 'mullet',
Warren cut Danny's hair to give it a much cooler edge, 'Danny's
got a strong look, but I wanted to make it more contemporary
with a runway feeling to it. Taking the sides and back shorter
was a simple way of doing this, emphasising and creating drama
on top.'
Warren says: 'I wanted to move Danny's hair away from being
commercial and take the back off. We definitely wanted to
channel a feeling that was more appropriate for the runway
but still very wearable, we were both massively on the same
page with that.
He's really good at doing his own hair so I was able to be
a bit more creative with how I approached it. We're planning
on taking the sides and back even shorter for the live shows
to create more drama on top. I used Nicky Clarke Control Shine
Shaping Cream for urban texture and elastic support that gives
hold and separation allowing us to move the hair about'.
Since styling Danny for the shoot Warren has been asked to
take creative control of his hair, 'We will dress it out in
a number of different ways, whether it's tailored or unstructured.
There is a plan for Danny's hair that will involve us growing
it after the live shows before he goes on tour.
Warren Holmes's impeccable attention to detail and creative
vision have made him one of the most in-demand new hair stylists.
Warren's intuitive sense of trends and ability to create endless
individual looks for each model, celebrity and client he works
on have him widely considered one of London's most inventive,
conceptual hair stylists.
