He made his film debut at the age of fourteen in Jonathan Kaplan's taut drama, Over the Edge. That led to roles in such films as My Bodyguard, Little Darlings and Tex.
Dillon emerged as one of the most gifted and charismatic actors of his generation, starring in such projects as Francis Ford Coppola's The Outsiders and Rumblefish, Garry Marshall's The Flamingo Kid, Arthur Penn's Target, Native Son and The Big Town. In Gus Van Sant's Drugstore Cowboy, Dillon was honored with the Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor.
Dillon also starred in Tim Hunter's The Saint of Fort Washington, A Kiss Before Dying, Cameron Crowe's Singles, Anthony Minghella's Mr. Wonderful, Gus Van Sant's To Die For, Beautiful Girls, and Kevin Spacey's Albino Alligator.
Most recently, Dillion starred in John McNaughton's Wild Things and in the hit comedy, In & Out.
