It's
a sign of the times,
perhaps, that a recent report into the causes of stress
indicate that number one on the list of problems are
financial worries.
Money troubles featured higher on the list of peoples
stress factors even more then relationship difficulties
and bereavement. It seems that over-use of credit cards,
multiple loans and high repayments are keeping us awake
at night, with over 75% of people asked feeling that
their credit problems were of a nature that caused them
on-going stress.
Although some felt that it was a temporary problem,
a high number expressed feelings of being 'trapped'
and that underlying money worries were affecting their
daily lives.
Although serious financial debt is a real worry and
certainly needs attention, it is, from a medical point
of |
|
view,
essential to keep things in proportion. Deep, on-going
stress levels are a serious threat to health and general
well being and can have profound effects on the body.
If you feel that life would be greatly improved for
you if only you could get your finances in order then
it makes sense to tackle the problem head-on and get
it sorted. There are many ways to solve debt problems
and despite feeling 'trapped' you must pluck up courage
to deal with it. A good place to start is the Citizens
Advice Centre who can point you in the right direction
for the appropriate financial advice.
The sense of relief you will feel when you take control
will be a tonic and may help prevent all the conditions
associated with high stress levels. Making financial
mistakes and then having to sort them out can be pretty
miserable, but living the effects of stress - angina,
high blood pressure, stomach ulcers and worse, is
serious. Do not bury head or suffer in silence, make
a healthy decision and get it sorted!

TEA
AND FERTILITY
New research reveals that a daily cup of tea
could increase your fertility. American scientists
have found that women who were trying for a
baby and drank at least half a cup of tea a
day were twice as likely to get pregnant as
those who did not drink tea at all. |
They
believe that the chemicals in tea - called polyphenols
and xanthines which affect the breakdown of acid in
the body - may help with the development of eggs and
embryos.
Most of us know that cranberry juice can be excellent
for the prevention of urinary tract infections but
did you know it can also help with prevention of gum
disease and tooth decay? Apparently cranberry juice
stops the bacteria responsible for tooth decay from
sticking to the teeth and forming plaque. Yet another
superb reason to include it as often as you can in
your diet.

SEBORRHOEIC
DERMATITUS
Seborrhoeic dermatitis is generally thought
to be caused, like acne, by a disorder of sebum
production.
Seborrhoeic dermatitis produces a red, itchy
rash, sometimes with weeping blisters. It occurs
mainly on the face, scalp, chest and back, and
can sometimes be exacerbated by anxiety or stress,
on the scalp it is the most common cause of
dandruff. It is usually treated with corticosteroid
drugs or a special prescription shampoo. Rashes
should never be ignored, especially if they
are persistent. On the whole, many rashes are
caused by |
products that we sue
but rashes are an indicator that the skin is in distress
and can often indicate other illnesses, so always
check out a rash with your GP.
