In
general, women are far more health conscious
than men and even more so when it comes to serious
illness such as cancer.
Many women support female cancer charity appeals,
from running fun-runs to simple donations and
almost all females have bought Breast Cancer
ribbons etc at some time. Unfortunately men
tend to bury their heads in the sand when it
comes to discussing male cancers.
So its great news to know that Asda are bringing
out a range of trendy t-shirts designed by students
of De Monfort University in conjunction with
their George range, which promotes the Everyman
Campaign.
The campaign raises awareness and funds to fight
testicular and prostate cancer. These funky
t-shirts are printed with |
witty
slogans in 'man-language' and look great whilst
raising funds for The Everyman Centre. Asda
will be donating £1 for every t-shirt sold.
If your man is too shy to wear the t-shirt then
why not buy him an Everyman key ring - really
natty and 50p from each key ring will go towards
the campaign. |

We
are all becoming increasingly aware
of the food we are eating and trying our best
to make informed choices about what we eat. But
are you aware of just how many chemicals we are
using to clean our homes and what effect they
can have on our health.
Many of us are trying to do our bit for the environment
by recycling etc but we could all go that bit
further by using less harmful products around
the house. You may decide that you want to go
the whole hog and switch to eco-friendly products
which are less harmful both to us and the environment.

Try
companies such as Earth Friendly Products or Home
Scents for household products (both have their
own websites) or try the OzKleen range of products
which should be available in large supermarkets
and offer everything from kitchen cleaners to
carpet cleaning products, and the ECover range
is widely available and is recognised as a leading
brand in eco-friendly products.
Unfortunately, until these types of products are
more widely used they are slightly more pricey
than the leading brand names. If this is a problem
for you don't forget that some of the best cleaning
power can be found in your store cupboard. I regularly
make up a 'shower shine' product which will clean
the shower simply by spraying on after you've
used it. Mix one part white vinegar to 10 parts
plain water and the juice of a lemon into a spray
bottle and use as you would a Supermarket brand.
It costs a fraction of the price and I think performs
much better.
And I now clean most of my kitchen, especially
the stainless steel with a bicarbonate of soda
solution - non-toxic, cheap and amazingly effective.
Even if you change only a small amount in your
routine every little helps and do you really want
your family using phosphates, chlorine and other
dangerous chemicals which can build up in our
bodies and have been linked to numerous illnesses? |

The
weather may be a little dull
and rainy on and off at the moment but please
stay vigilant in your sun care routine. We often
get caught out with this type of weather as we
don't realise that harmful rays can penetrate
cloud cover and the days are usually punctuated
with quite strong sunny spells which we are unprepared
for.
|
Invest
in a handbag size sun cream, especially if you
have children, and take it everywhere with you
- that way you'll never be caught out. |
