 DIY Celebrity Style
Always wanted to know how Cheryl gets so much volume, how Pixie gets her shiny locks or how to achieve Kesha's messy 'dos? Then follow our top tips and make your own glamorous hair statement.

I’ll show you step-by-step how to achieve the most talked about celebrity hairstyles from glamourous red carpet updos to the hottest catwalk trends...........

Jennifer Lopez

J-Lo's latest red carpet look is simple but oh so effective. The gorgeous diva with her infamous derrière wore her long hair very natural so this is a no-straightener zone!

• In this style J-Lo's natural waves are key. Once you've washed and conditioned, leave your hair to dry naturally.

• For those of you with 'frizzy' hair like mine who grab the tongs or straighteners when being told to 'dry your hair naturally' have faith!

• If you do have wavy, curly or 'frizzy' hair use a shampoo to help tame and control it.

• Try Revlon Professional Pro You Nutritive Shampoo, it's under £6 (and comes with a free brush!) then Life Curls Shape Activator

Serum which will help hold your wave.

• While it's drying, comb it through with a wide tooth comb. Hair stretches when wet so the wider the comb the better to prevent damaging your hair and causing split ends.

• While it's drying just run your fingers through, encouraging any wave or curl with your fingers.

• Even if your hair is straight, you will still benefit from not using irons. You can even make it look a bit 'messy' but turning your head upside down and shaking through your hair with your hands or when it's dry gently back combing to give it an edgy look.

• When your hair is dry use J F Lazartigue Hair Styling Gel, working it through with your fingers. It's not like gel in the 90s, it is a non-oily gel which can be used to tame an unruly mane.

• Take half of your hair (from the top of your ear is a good point) and loosely tie it into a band. I find the clear 'no snag' ones work best for this style.

• You can hide the band by clipping pieces around it.

• For a bit more definition, instead of using a band, pull back 1inch wide pieces of your hair and twist them then securing with grips at the back of your head.

• Keep doing this until the top section is pinned back, the twists just add a 'boho' feel. Great if your wearing a gypsy or maxi style dress. Day or night.

• Finish with a light misting of Alterna TEN Hair Spray.
