Andrew
is one of the Hairdressing Industry’s most experienced and highly
regarded figures, and is one of its key spokespeople for hair education
and hair fashion, whilst his nose for trend forecasting make him
a favourite of beauty editors and his signature style of ’hair beauty’
is in demand for photographic editorial and front cover alike.
With over 25 years’ experience including time as both Creative Director for Saks and Toni & Guy, Andrew is widely regarded as the ‘hairdresser’s hairdresser’. He has won numerous industry awards including Hairdresser of the Year in 2006 and Ultimate Hair Icon in 2008. He was recently named ‘Best Stylist’ by Tatler Magazine, and ‘Best Hairdresser’ by Cosmopolitan.
Although Andrew is stylist to some of the UK’s biggest stars and has created of catwalk looks for many of the world’s most prestigious fashion labels, he is famous for his down- to-earth approach to hairdressing.
His passion is transforming the hair of ‘real’ women, creating beautiful, feminine, wearable styles rather than conceptual looks. He is passionate about the importance of understanding clients’ real needs to create a style that works for them every day – one they can easily manage themselves.
Well established as the ‘Makeover Expert’, Andrew is the resident hairdresser on the UK’s hit makeover show ’10 Year’s Younger’, with over 5 million viewers in the UK alone, and broadcast in over 135 countries worldwide.
Andrew Barton was International Creative Director for Saks, the UK’s leading franchise salon group with 120 salons nationwide, and in Belgium.
His outstanding talent is well recognised within in the industry - he has been nominated twice for the coveted title of British Hairdresser of the Year, in 2003 and 2004. He is also the spokesman for premium product range Kérastase.
Many will recognise him as the hair expert on hit Channel 4 extreme make-over show, Ten Years Younger. He also regularly appears on other UK shows including GMTV and the BBC’s Who’s Looking at You and regularly works on consumer magazine shoots. On the catwalk he has worked on fashion shows for Versace, Prada, Calvin Klein and Central St Martins.
As head of the world-renowned Saks Art Team, Andrew is responsible for creating images, seasonal collections and the company’s signature hairdressing techniques. He also travels the world extensively, passing on Saks’ philosophies and his expertise to students.
