Ellen Kullman
Ellen J. Kullman is President, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company ("DuPont") in Wilmington and a former director of General Motors. She was born January 22, 1956, Wilmington, Delaware.
Fortune magazine named Ellen fifteenth in its list of the world’s fifty most powerful women for 2008, and fifth on the list for 2009 and 2010. The Wall Street Journal named her eighth on its 2008 list of "Women to Watch". More recently Forbes ranked her 4th of the 100 Most Powerful Women in 2011.
Ellen attended Tower Hill School in Wilmington, and then studied mechanical engineering at Tufts University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in 1978. In 1983 she received a Master’s degree in management from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
DuPont’s board of directors elected Ellen President and a director of the company with effect from October 1, 2008 and Chief Executive Officer with effect from January 1, 2009.She is the nineteenth executive, and the first woman, to lead the company in its 206 year history.
