Hair at the Orange British Academy Film Awards 2012
The Bafta 2012 red carpet arrivals came thick and fast and who can blame the celebrities for rushing inside on one of the coldest nights of the year? John Clarke from Brooks+Brooks, one of London’s leading award winning salons, has been picking his style winners from the glittering line up.
John runs the colour department at Brooks+Brooks and the team call him their ’colour geek’ , as he lives, breathes and dreams colour! John is a creative and outstanding colourist and is also one of the most down to earth guys you will meet – so no question is a problem and if you don’t know what you want leave it to him.
He has a way of making colour look ’expensive’ high shine and quality of hair second to none. John completed his colour degree with an amazing 94% distinction and loves passing his knowledge on to the rest of the team.
Below John shares his thoughts with UKHairdressers on the celebrity hair cuts and colours walking the red carpet at the BAFTA’s….
Berenice Bejo
(Nominated for Leading Actress in The Artist)
Berenice has lightened her hair colour to lovely caramel shade . Waves were scooped up into a shaggy chignon’ with loose tendrils allowed to fall free at the sides. Perfect for the occasion.
Meryl Streep
(Nominated for Leading Actress in The Iron Lady)
You can’t argue with this lady’s updo – soft, bouffant curls - we love it but reckon it would have needed some serious strong hold spray!
Michelle Williams
(Nominated for Leading
Actress in My Week with Marilyn)
Short, pixie crop a la Mia Farrow with beautiful shades of honey blonde.
Tilda Swinton
(Nominated for Leading Actress
in We Need to Talk About Kevin)
That buttercream blonde works so well with her skin tones – think Vintage, Rockabilly, Elvis and Androgynous – unique and so dramatic with tightly cropped back and wild quiff.
Olivia Firth
Her neat pony at the nape of her neck and that black suit was pure elegance.
Judi Dench
(Nominated for best
Supporting actress in
My Week with Marilyn)
She looked incredible with her pixie crop which suits her face shape beautifully.
Jessica Chastain
Looked striking with her strawberry/ apricot blonde hair colour and her simple, yet effective one-sided loosely waved look.
Christina Ricci
Totally on trend with her modern version of the classic sleek chignon- fabulous!
Christina Hendrick
Her paired down look with loose waves pinned behind the ears added a sophisticated structure to a natural look and teamed with that eye catching red hair to stunning effect.
Helena Bonham Carter
A national treasure yes, but her hair was a little too ‘bird’s nest’ for our liking.
Gillian Anderson
Got it perfectly right – oaty and sandy toned blonde with an almost pre-Raphaelite wave and fastened at nape of her neck for a modern but classic look - B&B; love!
The Bond Girls Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris rocked ‘texture with polish’ – not beachy or scrunched but worked with their natural curl.
Penelope Cruz
We reckon went for
a 60’s bond girl look.
Thanks to John Clarke for talking
