Adele- Rolling in the deep waves
Michael Ashton’s - How-to guide for recreating a red carpet look like Adele’s at The BRITs
New Zealand born and bred, international Make-up Artist and stylist Michael Ashton now resides in London. He has been Adele’s personal hair and make-up artist for five years and has helped create her transformation into the beauty sensation she is today and now his advice, makes this accessible to women everywhere.
Michael has personally compiled make-up and hair tips to show us how-to recreate a modern, iconic look just like Adele’s.
The Hair
"When it comes to styling a clients hair for the red-carpet, preparation is key to achieving a look that is not only great for the cameras, but will also last the distance on the night" says Michael who gives us his industry insider tips to achieving camera-ready hair at home:
1. Towel dry from wet, removing excess moisture before working through serum on mid-lengths and ends. Next apply Root Lifting Spray to the root area.
2. Flip the hair over with your head between your knees, blasting hot air down the hair shaft whilst finger drying - creating instant lift at your roots and thickness through the rest of your hair.
3. Once the hair is almost 80 percent dry, flip your hair back over and take large sections, smoothing them with a medium sized round brush. Pay particular attention to the ends to ensure they are bouncy and luscious.
4. Next, section the hair into quarters - from ear to ear and then front to back and using a medium-large sized hot tong take each section and work it onto the barrel until the section is heated through. This will give hair a loose bend and in turn, a contemporary yet feminine texture.
5. Continue for the remaining three sections, ensuring that as you have finished curling each section you pin it in a barrel curl using a sectioning clip while it cools and sets.
6. After 5-10 minutes, remove the sectioning clips, gentle tousle the hair and brush into place before finishing with a strong hold hairspray to lock and load the look!

The Makeup
* First, prep and prime to perfection - The secret to creating picture perfect skin is massaging foundation into the face and buffing camouflage where needed for extra coverage. Add a sheer veil of Eye Brightener near the inner tear ducts through the t-zone and high planes of the face
* Brows are always so important to complete any make up look, use a clear brow set to groom the shape and then fill and extend with an eyebrow pencil
* Eye shadow is kept to a minimum for this look, with just a subtle highlighter on the brow bone, followed by gentle contouring through the socket
* The real hero of this look is the liner and lashes! Using Gel Liner in black, start on the inner corner of the eye and increase the width of liner as you extend towards the outer corner finishing with a flirty flick.
* To give the eyes a polished yet understated feel, place lashes along the entire upper lashline before building up lash density with mascara top and bottom
* To finish the look, a perfect pout is a must!
Start by filling in the lip working from the middle of the mouth and creating the desired shaped using a lip brush. Blot off the excess before tidying edges using lipliner and reapplying another slick of Lip Butter.
