Hair: Short, perky crop, perfectly cut, tapered into the nape, with a softening
spiked fringe – toped with a crown.
Vows: The bride walked down a sixty foot walkway covered in flowers, while
a harp and violin duo played Bach, Handel and Mozart. Twenty-nine close friends
and family witnessed the marriage, held in a private room decorated with rose
petals and silver birch trees. The Bishop of Cork, Paul Colton officiated at the
service and as they became man and wife, a single white dove was released. A purple
heraldic flag was then raised above the castle with the initials ‘V. B. D.’ –
for Victoria, Brooklyn and David.
Dress by: Vera Wang – strapless, champagne coloured gown with a 20-foot
train. Costing £60,000
The couple changed into party attire by Antonio Berardi, David wore a purple suit
and Victoria chose a long purple dress with exotic flower embellishment and thigh
high split. The guests were asked to wear black or white.
Bouquet: Natural selection of green berries, twigs, blackberries and brambles
Jewellery: Slim Barrett created the 18-carat gold and diamond crown. Victoria
wore a large diamond crucifix around her neck that David had bought her for Christmas
the previous year. David and Victoria wore rings made by Asprey and Garrard’s,
Bond Street, London.

Wedding cars: Victoria arrived in a burgundy vintage Bentley, accompanied
by her sister and maid-of-honour, Louise. David’s niece Georgia and Louise’s daughter
Liberty who were flower girls dressed as angels.
Reception: Luttrellstown Castle – reception room was filled with giant
cushions, purple carpets and a golden throne each for Victoria and David. A cot
was set up at their side for baby Brooklyn.
Chef Jason Reynolds catered for the guests dinner and served red pepper soup,
turkey breast, grilled Mediterranean vegetables and followed this with one of
David’s favourites, sticky toffee pudding with a terrine of summer berries. The
menu also included Laurent Perrier rose champagne.
The wedding cake had a novel nude sculpture of the couple on the top with appropriately
placed ivy leaves.
An 18-piece orchestra played specially rehearsed numbers, including a medley of
the Spice Girls. The evening drew to a close with hundreds of red balloons being
released into the air and a fireworks display lighting up the sky.
First dance: It had to be you
Honeymoon: The couple stayed in the castle’s Royal Suite for their wedding
night and then honeymooned in Elton John’s £4 million chateau in Nice, South of
France.
Cost: Estimated at £500,000 for the reception, £60,000 for the dress, upwards
£100,000 for hire of castle.
Number of guests: 236 guests attended, all were requested to wear black
and white. They were outnumbered by the 437 members of staff.
Special guests: David and Victoria’s 4-month old son Brooklyn, Geri Halliwell,
Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Sir Bobby Charlton. Gary Neville was the couple’s

Engagement: They became engaged on 25 January, 1998 – 17 months. David
went down on one knee to propose.
Where did they meet? David on meeting Victoria in November 1996: "My wife
picked me out of a soccer sticker book. And I chose her off the telly ... It felt
straight away like we’d always been meant to be together."
History: First marriage for both – they now have 3 boys and are expecting
a girl in July 2011
