The mayor of Bracciano told the media that “No civil ceremony has taken place and no paperwork has been received. The wedding is not legally binding.”
Technically they were married the day before 17 November 2006, according to the Tom’s publicist, who declared they had “officialised” their marriage in Los Angeles the day before.
Hair: Styled half up and half down, with curls spread loosely across her
shoulders. A long veil was secured high on her crown.
Vows: The couple exchanged vows at a Scientology ceremony, inside a converted
15-century armory. Tom walked down a stone ramp to the roll of drums. Flag bearers
in medieval costumes lined the ramp. Katie followed on the arm of her father.
Dress by: Giorgio Armani – Wedding dress was an off the shoulder gown,
embellished with Valenciennes lace and Swarovski crystals.
Katie’s dress for the reception was a peach silk organza dress by Armani.

Reception: The reception took place in the castle’s Hall of the Caesars,
which was decorated with thousands of white and red roses. The meal was catered
by Dal Bolognese, the groom’s favourite restaurant in Rome. Risotto, sea bass
with artichokes and parmesan-encrusted fillet. Guests drank Barbesco wine and
champagne, followed by a five-tier, white chocolate mousse cake with marzipan
decoration.
A fireworks display set to classical music, lit up the sky as guests watched from the courtyard. Then they danced the night away in a castle hall decorated like a nightclub. Tom Cruise sang to Katie, by recreating a scene from his film “Top Gun”. Later Jennifer Lopez sang some of her songs for the couple.

wedding gift to the couple.)

Engagement: Tom proposed two months after they first met, on 17 June 2005
while at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. He gave her a 5-carat oval diamond
in a rose gold and platinum art deco setting with a split shank. Tom is 16 years
older than his bride.
He said he bought an engagement ring for Katie after their first date in 2005, saying, "I knew I wanted to marry Kate when I met her."
Ever since she was a little girl, Katie had dreamed of marrying him.
"I said I wouldn’t want to disappoint her," said Tom,
"At one point, I thought she was going to ask me to marry her first and I put her off by changing the subject," he added. "I wanted to ask her."
Where did they meet? It is thought Tom’s publicist called Katie’s, saying that his client wanted to meet her. It’s unclear whether she went to that meeting expecting to discuss a film role and instead came away with a date.
History: The couple’s seven-month-old daughter, Suri, wore an ivory silk
tulle dress by Armani. She was carried by brother Connor. Katie converted to Scientology
to marry Tom, she was brought up a Roman Catholic.
This is Katie’s first marriage and Tom’s third. He was married to Mimi Rogers for 3 years and famously for 11 years to Nicole Kidman.
