| Michael Kors started giving fashion advice aged five.
The designer first realised he had an eye for style as a child when he helped his mother narrowly avoid a fashion disaster just before she was about to walk down the aisle.
In a talk with Yasmin Le Bon at the Vogue Festival at London’s Southbank centre on Saturday (27.04.13), Michael revealed: "I think it started when I was five and my mother was getting married again.
"I told her there were just too many bows on her dress. My grandmother disagreed but my mother thought I had a point and took them all off.
"The dress remained timeless - although she didn’t stay married."
Michael - who made TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people list earlier this month - lived up to his reputation as one of the funniest men in fashion by cracking jokes throughout the event, and revealed his good humour is at its peak after a successful show.
He said: "I’m not one of those designers who... [more] |
| Michael Kors thinks Yasmin Le Bon is ’fabulous’.
The designer - who was included in TIME magazine’s annual 100 most influential people list - was captivated by the model the second he saw her and instantly knew she had what it took to be a star.
Michael admitted to Vogue.co.uk: "When I first saw Yasmin Le Bon, I thought she was really, really fabulous looking.
"I was so intrigued by her looks that I asked the editor of New York Magazine at the time, ’Who is this girl?’
"And she replied, ’Yasmin Parvaneh.’ And I said, ’She’s fabulous.’ "
Michael believes it takes more than just good looks to make a successful model and says the British-Iranian beauty possesses that special something which can bring a fashion campaign to life.
He said: "The first thing for me as a designer has never been, ’Oh, look at your dress.’ Or, ’That’s the craziest pair of shoes I’ve ever seen.’
"My job is to be the fr... [more] |

She told Britain’s Grazia magazine: "I find playing the piano very therapeutic. I like Chopin - especially if I’m feeling angry. Sometimes I’ll join in with my dad. But he’s a better musician than a teacher - I can’t keep up!"
