Kate Nash, born 6 July 1987, is a singer and songwriter from Harrow, London. She attended St John Fisher school and later moved onto St Joan of Arc School in Rickmansworth. Kate uploaded her music on to MySpace.com and she soon gained many fans. Nash has often been compared to Lily Allen because of their storytelling lyrics, the dry sense of humour that fuels their songs as well as distinctive London accents. Nash's debut was a double-A side single, ‘Caroline’s a Victim’ released in February 2007. The release was limited to 1000 copies and was available on only 7" vinyl. Kate went on to support ‘Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly’ on his national tour before embarking on her own tour around the UK. In March 2007, Nash was signed to the Polydor offshoot Fiction Records, Other acts signed to the label include The Maccabees and Snow Patrol. Nash's second single, ‘Foundations’, was released on June 25 2007 and reached number 2 in the official UK singles chart.
