Squeaky Clean
Fabulous hair starts with your shampoo and conditioning routine. There's plenty of old wives tales out there and many women who have their own routine that works. I just thought I’d go back to basics and put across a few pointers to remember. I always remember a client who refused to wash her hair and wanted the natural look. Now for the first few weeks and months it was so hard to handle. The hair feels heavy, has a coating of oil and does smell. But, she stuck to her natural way of non-shampooing and she was happy.
I just think there's nothing better than freshly washed, beautifully smelling hair, and I love it when it's squeaky clean. However, regular use of shampoo and styling products can contribute to a ‘build up’ on you hair. An effective and cheap method to treat your hair to a rescue remedy is to add a teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda to your usual shampoo. This will reduce product residue and leave you with shiny locks - just like the girls on the advert!
Like all products you need to find the right type to suit your hair. It's always a good tip to ask your stylist - they know your hair as well as you and many clients often get their hair type wrong. Always start at your ends and work upwards when conditioning your hair. And always, always brush it through from root to tip. This seals down your cuticles and gives you that shiny look.
I always suggest that my clients do a mask every few weeks. There's plenty of good ones out there, do a DIY one at home one night or treat yourself to an intense treatment at your salon. It's a nice hour of complete relaxation and your hair will feel amazing afterwards. Definitely treat yourself to a Kerastase mask - it's a complete face lift for your hair!
