Fringe Benefits
YOU can have them to make a bold statement, to be on-trend, or in some cases, to hide spots and wrinkles! Seriously though, a fringe, or bangs as our American friends say, can make your look completely different and dramatic – without being so dramatic on your locks. When you decide to finally take the plunge and have a fringe, the decision-making really begins. You can always get clip-in fringes but there’s nothing like the real deal. There are so many variations of styles and colours out there to choose from. Fringes have always been around, from the gorgeous 1920s pixie fringe to the full set 1960s hippy-style fringe. Lucky for us, in 2012 they are all making a comeback so take your pick!
Actress Rachel McAdams is the latest celebrity to get in on the fringe trend, she has cleverly updated her long blonde hair with a blunt-cut fringe. It frames her face beautifully and changes her look – without a drastic cut or colour. Fellow thespian Rooney Mara is queen of the fringe at the moment. Her razor-sharp fringe positioned high above her eyebrows make a bold statement and really shows off her eyes. The gorgeous Zooey Deschanel has sported the 60s classic with a twist and brought it into 2012. Her heavy-cut, retro fringe is made modern with her quirky style, bold coloured lipstick and thick eyeliner.
So, whether you’re going to go bold with your bangs like Jessie J and Nicki Minaj or safe but sexy with a side, wispy or choppy fringe – always go with what suits your face shape and style and remember, sometimes small changes can make serious statements.
