TIME TO TALK
We interviewed Mark Leeson from Mark Leeson Hair, Body & Mind
What was your inspiration for the salon?
An eastern theme, luxury hotels, and lots of influences I have taken from from travelling all over the world etc.
Who is your role model?
In terms of hairdressing I would say Trevor Sorbie as I admire the work he is now doing on the My New Hair campaign after being such an iconic hairdresser.
Best moment? (customer base/ award winning/ promotion/ messages/recommendation)?
I have so many but I would say winning my first ever eastern hairdresser of the year collection and receiving my first British Hairdresser of the Year collection. Going back further we did our first show at Salon International many many years ago on the Fellowship stage and I have to say it was one of the best moments on mine and my team’s career. We completely rocked it and we really went all out to produce something amazing. Watching the models strut down the catwalk had me and all our team in tears as we had worked so hard at it and it was amazing and that was a great moment.
Funniest hairdressing moment?
Hairdressing is always fun and if you love it like I do then the fun is always there. I have so many funniest moments that it would be hard to pinpoint one particularly one.
Best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Learn, learn, learn and listen, listen and listen some more... you can never have absorbed everything there is to hear or learn!
Whats the most important quality you look for in someone joining your team?
Passion and general interest in hair. Customer service is very important to us and so the right team member has to fulfil our demanding expectations.
What would you like to be known for?
For being an amazing hairdresser and educator and to have lived life to the full and hopefully been a jolly nice person along the way!
What couldn't you live without?
My partner Richard.
