TIME TO TALK
We interviewed David Nicholson from Rainbow Room International
What was your inspiration for the salon?
We wanted it to have a classic, timeless and simplistic feel, but on a practical level it needed to be easy to keep clean also.
Who is your role model?
It’s got to be the Rainbow Room International founders, Alan and Linda Stewart. My second choice would be the motorcycle racer, John McGuinness, the most successful TG1 and endurance racer. I like that despite being a legend, he’s a really understated guy.
Best moment? (customer base/ award winning/ promotion/ messages/recommendation)?
It’s got to be when Rainbow Room International, 24 Royal Exchange Square won team of the year at the British Hairdressing Business Awards.
Funniest hairdressing moment?
Pass!
Best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Best piece of advice anyone has ever given you? There are two things I always try to keep in mind; the first is that there is no such as a problem, it’s only a disguised opportunity. The second is to trust and verify.
Whats the most important quality you look for in someone joining your team?
It’s important they share my core values – they should have a trust in people around them, they should have humility, and they should look for the good in others.
What would you like to be known for?
I’d like to be known for being fair, understated and brilliant with hair.
What couldn't you live without?
My scissors, my motorcycle and my family.
