TIME TO TALK
We interviewed Errol Douglas from Errol Douglas Salon
What was your inspiration for the salon?
I adore the refreshed salon, the first since our opening in 1998, I was inspired by clean lines, modern living and a luxurious lounge feel, where my clients who have been with me for years really felt at home.
Who is your role model?
Paul Edmonds – a constant source of professional inspiration.
Best moment? (customer base/ award winning/ promotion/ messages/recommendation)?
Receiving an MBE from The Queen, particularly as it was for services to Hairdressing, and I adore my industry
Funniest hairdressing moment?
Travelling to do bridal hair and the concierge at the hotel gave me the wrong room – I knocked for half an hour, and I waited because brides need patient, understanding hairstylists, and it was over 45 minutes before I accepted it was the wrong room!
Best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Never take short cuts in life, they’re not real – there’s no substitute for hard work and dedication.
Whats the most important quality you look for in someone joining your team?
I look for those with a certain look in their eye that every passionate stylist recognises, it’s an extreme level of work ethic, dedication. It’s a desire to be original, learn and immerse themselves completely in the industry. I like to mentor those that are forging their own hair identity, that I can guide and learn from them too.
What would you like to be known for?
Boundary pushing to create new looks and techniques – from multi-textures to the polish of a finish – constantly striving to see what’s else can be acheived.
What couldn't you live without?
Other than my family, it’s my amazing team and my kit - cutting comb, styling brush and Moroccanoil Treatment because it’s all hair types and all styling in terms of its uses.
