TIME TO TALK
We interviewed Lucy Kundomal from Rush Ealing
What was your inspiration for the salon?
Everyone is so busy these days I wanted to create an atmosphere where clients can unwind and relax in a friendly, welcoming modern environment. And leave feeling great!
Who is your role model?
I use to work at Rush Clapham, and my boss Phil Bird who owns the franchise for that salon encouraged me to open my own Rush franchise salon. He taught me management skills and everything I needed to know to run a successful franchise business. He is a great mentor and together with the support from the Rush Head Office team, I would seriously recommend anyone interested in business to become a franchisee.
Best moment? (customer base/ award winning/ promotion/ messages/recommendation)?
Opening my first Rush salon was the best moment of my career. After months of preparation it was such a great feeling to see the salon really busy on our opening day with a buzzing atmosphere. I’ve never looked back!
Funniest hairdressing moment?
It was a busy afternoon and I had just shampooed a gent, but as I walked him back to his seat I tripped over myself and ended up lying down on the floor for all to see!
Best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Follow your dreams; anything is possible! I think this is so true for my Rush journey. I started off as an assistant but it was always my dream to have my own salon and as Rush have a franchise system, this became reality! Now I have two Rush franchise salons!
Whats the most important quality you look for in someone joining your team?
Passion and energy are crucial. They rub off on clients so it is really important for my team to have these positive traits that encourage clients to come back and see them.
What would you like to be known for?
I would like to be known as someone who is focused on what I do, ensuring high standards are kept up by all the team that represent Rush which in turn allows me to run two successful salons.
What couldn't you live without?
My front of house teams – they are incredible at guaranteeing we give the best customer service. I can trust and rely on them to maintain a tight ship.
