A Problem
shared ……..
Q. My hair always looks flat on top about a month after having it cut. Any suggestions?

A: After 4 weeks you will be about a third of the way through your time 'between cuts'.This is when hair has grown sufficiently to start pulling your style down ant it is now that you will need to use styling products to help you. Choose a volume spray or a firm hold mousse and apply around the crown before drying to add height and lift style.

Q: My hair never seems to look the same on both sides. How can I make it look more even?

A: Everyone will have a favourite side to their hair, which is usually the easiest side for us to handle at home. Try to tackle the difficult side first as you will have more patience at the start of styling and take your time. Your stylist will also be able to tell which is the more difficult side to your hair so ask her advice on tricks to deal with it ~ she may be able to cut the style slightly differently to enable you to manage it more easily.

Q: Although I like my naturally blonde hair it is mainly an all~over shade. How can I keep it blonde but make it more interesting?

A: I think the answer here is lowlights, especially framing the face. Your colourist will put several different shades in at once keeping close to your natural shade. Also for special occasions why not try a hair mascara wand for a bit of fun, which will wash out as soon as you want to. Available in loads of fun colours you could even match them to your outfit!

Q: How can I protect my hair when using my flat irons?

A: Before using straightening irons you need to apply a thermal protector to each section. Never hold the iron on the hair for too long ~ the iron should be swept swiftly down the hair from root to tip in one quick movement. If you prefer your hair straight most days then use your irons one week and a non~chemical straightening lotion before blow-drying the following week.

Lock'N'Roll

Need a good look in a hurry this Christmas?

Lock'n'Roll are the flexible, no trouble stylers from Remington, perfect for achieving gentle waves and curls in just 15 mins, plus heat-up-time around 5~10 mins.

Soft Curls: Simply wind the hair a section at a time around the styler from the tips to the roots. Twist the styler so the base fits flat against your scalp and simply flit the top downwards with your fingertips to secure the Lock'n'Roll. The smaller the section of hair the tighter the curl.

Leave for 15minutes and remove. When hair has fully cooled down gently run fingers through for soft curls.

Spiral Curls: To create spiral curls and ringlets, simply twist the sectioned hair tightly before winding around styler. (Don't brush or comb hair when rollers are removed or you will lose the formation of the spiral).

WANT TO GET YOUR HAIR IN TIP TOP CONDITION THIS CHRISTMAS?

With all those parties coming up make sure you hair doesn't let you down.

Tip Top Condition ~ Intensive Masks

Shampooing can strip hair of its natural moisture which is why it's important to condition your hair every time you wash, no matter what you hair type. If your hair is particularly dry or damaged you may need some extra help with a hair mask. These are basically intensive conditioners to give an extra boost dependent on what you need. A protein mask will strengthen hair or a moisturising mask will leave hair soft and manageable. If your hair is damaged you will need to use an intensive conditioner as often as once a week. If your hair is in good shape and you want to keep it that way you need only to use it as a treat every 6~8 weeks. Deep conditioning need not take up too much time ~ some are designed to act in just a few minutes, so if you're a girl in a hurry there's no excuse. If you've got more time look at it as a treat, put on some relaxing music, put your feet up and enjoy!

  • Don't skimp on the product. Intensive conditioners are meant to be applied generously.
  • Avoid the roots as it is not necessary to deep condition new growth.
  • Use a wide~tooth comb to distribute the mask down to the ends.
  • Pile hair on top of head and wrap in cling film to seal in heat which will make the mask more effective.
  • Sit back and relax for 15~20 minutes if you can spare the time.
  • Rinse really thoroughly til water runs clear.

You may find that hair is too soft to hold a really structured style for a few days but enjoy the softness and shine for a change ~ and don't be tempted to undo your good work by applying too many products until you absolutely need them.
