Did You Know?

DID YOU KNOW?
DID YOU KNOW - that a gentle 10 minute scalp massage improves the circulation to the hair follicles and stimulates natural oils to make hair shiny. Use all ten fingers in tiny circles from crown to nape. Then pressing gently 'move' scalp backwards and forwards towards then away from forehead. Can be great to beat stress after a hard day to eliminate that 'tight scalp' feeling.

TRIED AND TESTED
5 kids shampoos were recently tested with the results as follows:-

JOHNSONS KIDS NO MORE TANGLES around £1.70

The kids loved the fruity smell. Left hair clean and tangle free making it easy to comb. Good value for money.

Rated 10 out of 10

Vosene Junior around £1.40

Mildly medicated for frequent use it left hair really clean, and smelling fresh, at the right price.

Rated 8 out of 10

Paul Mitchell Baby Don’t Cry around £4.00

Easy to use bottle. Left hair really clean and although worth the price, it is only available at hair salons.

Rated 8 out of 10

L'OREAL INNE HAIR AND BODY SHAMPOO around £7.50

Kids loved the fun bottle - squeeze it and shampoo comes out of a birds beak. Mild shampoo, needed two applications on hot sweaty heads but smelt nice.

Rated 7 out of 10

HOW TO USE

Wax - Warm wax with a hairdryer while still in the tub then run your fingers around the top of the wax and rub onto your hands. Apply just a fine film - too much will make hair to heavy and it will appear lank.

Mousse - Apply a big ball of mousse to the palm of the hand, then take small amounts with your fingertips and smear in panels across the head and underneath towards the front of the hair. Always comb through to the ends whatever the desired style. Gently squeeze curl into the hair - the warmth of your hand as well as the dryer will help you to put movement into your hair as you dry it. Once hair is dry shake hair at the roots with your fingers. Mousse is best used on wet hair as it can make dry hair sticky and hard to the touch.

Gel - Smear a little onto fingertips then massage into roots, aim hairdryer at roots when drying. Gel can be used to tame flyaway ends after drying - put gel on fingertips and 'pinch' stray strands.

Curl Re-Activator - Best sprayed onto hands first then place hands where you want the curls to be and gently scrunch.

Views & tips from your side of the counter........

IN GREAT SHAPE
  • Texturised cutting will help to soften an angular shaped face. Lots of layers and finger drying with gel adds texture.
  • A central parting with hair sweeping gently away from the face will soften a square face.
  • An oval face allows freedom of choice. If you are lucky enough to have this face shape experiment freely - most styles will suit.
  • Heart shaped faces look beautiful framed with long, loose curls around the jawline - a wispy fringe will disguise an overly wide forehead.
  • A short cut with width around the ears will even out a long face. Best worn with a fringe to shorten the face.
  • An off centre parting is always more flattering to a round face - avoid round bobs which finish at jawline as these will accentuate full cheeks.

DRY YOUR HAIR PROPERLY

Bouncy Curls Grab handfuls of hair and scrunch gently in your fingers as you dry. Always use a diffuser attachment for best results.

Smooth and Sleek Dry small sections of hair at a time rolling the brush from roots to ends. Always keep the nozzle of the dryer pointing down the hair shaft to keep cuticle smooth.

Root Lift Move your fingertips in small circles at the roots only as you dry. This encourages lift, especially for lank hair.

All Over Volume Choose a round brush with a metal barrel to mould your hair. Pull sections of hair away from your scalp as you dry. Hold each section until cool and spritz with hairspray to maintain body.
