A
PROPER CHARLIE
|
As you will have gathered
Charles Worthington is fast becoming a favourite with me so I have collected
a few of the masters top tips for you.
The
simple ponytail is definitely back but with a less fussy approach to styling.
Up-hair should not look contrived, even a sleek ponytail should look as
though you have tied it up as naturally as possible. Practice twisting
or coiling your hair using styling chopsticks or big jewelled pins allowing
some pieces to tumble down.
If
you whip up a good lather during your first wash you probably do not need
to repeat - if the bubbles disappear quickly then you do.
If
its 'big hair' you are after, set your hair using large heated rollers
after working in some volumising mousse. Do this just before bedtime but
do not disturb the curls at all until you wake up. Run fingers through
the style the following morning and spray on my Shining Star Spectacular
Glossing spray to finish.
A
high forehead or overly-long face will always benefit from a fringe. Long.,
side swept flicks are very now but if you want something less retro go
for heavier, stronger shapes.
Bold,
vibrant colours are the thing at the moment. If you are brunette try Hot
Chocolate or Caramel shades. If you are a redhead try rich russet colours,
ivory or oatmeal if you are blonde.
If
you want touchy-feely silky soft hair know your products. Soft-hold mousse
will give flexible bounce, serum for a silky shine and shine spray for
a truly shimmering finish. To give soft movement use heated rollers or
Velcro rollers and use a soft bristle brush to stroke the hair into shape.
Brush lightly and tame flyaway ends with a touch or serum.
For
a curly-girlie full of volume look try using tongs or a hot brush such
as my Big Hair Airstyler. Simply spritz with styling spray before winding,
hold the style in place for no more than ten seconds, release and repeat
three times. Allow to cool and arrange as you like. Simple!
Rollers
can create too definite a curl on short hair. Do not curl all over - concentrate
on the crown or you will end up looking like Doris Day!
With
naturally curly or frizzy hair always use larger rollers, smoothing serum
on before winding. Do not use hairspray on this type of hair as it can
be too drying.
To
get hair as smooth as possible when blowdrying aim the heat directly at
the parting, with the airflow downwards. Keep the hairdryer moving and
once the roots are bone dry, dry the mid-length then ends. Try the Body-Booster
Silkening Mousse from the Results range.
