Ho! Ho! Ho!

Yes you've guessed it, I’m getting into the spirit of Christmas, writing lists ordering presents, making cards.
Although I love Christmas, I have to admit that years ago it was at around this stage of proceedings that I used to feel a bit daunted. The thought of queuing in overheated shops, jostling along with hundreds of other shoppers and then struggling with carrier bags to the car in pouring rain always dampened my enthusiasm.

But since I decided to do my gift buying by mail-order and internet I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoy the shopping
experience. Sitting at home with a mug of cappuccino and a mince pie I put my Christmas C.D.’s on and switch on the P.C. I generally make a list of all the people I'm giving gifts to and a list of web sites I want to visit and off I go.
The beauty of this kind of shopping is that you get to see the whole selection of products that each company offers rather than just what’s on the
shelves at the moment.

I can’t count the number of times in the past that I've trekked to a particular shop only to find that what I want has just sold out and won't be back in until the following week meaning another trip into town etc., etc.,

Shopping on-line I can see what’s available and if something is out of stock I can just move on to the next web site. But the real joy for me is having the gifts delivered.
Apart from not having to struggle in the town with dozens of bags and checking every five minutes that I’ve got everything, there's something exciting about parcels being delivered. What a lovely change for the postman to ring the doorbell, with a parcel rather than filling my letterbox with junk mail.

When I first started to shop on-line I worried that I would miss out on the Christmas “atmosphere” In the town, but having had to go to the High Street last Saturday afternoon for a last minute birthday present I can honestly say “never again!” I had my foot run over by an aggressive push chair, several doors slammed rudely in my face and an encounter with a shop assistant who did very little to “assist”. And if you do want to brave the town centre just to feel part of it all, why not shop for your gifts from home and then just drop into town for your gift wrap and cards. With all your gifts safely stored at home you can relax and enjoy just picking up a few bits and pieces on the High Street.

So this year avoid all the hassle and give on-line shopping a try - I can thoroughly recommend it.
