Spring
has to be my favourite season
of the year. I love it when the
evenings become lighter, the sky
becomes a little bluer and everything
in general starts to look a little
fresher. Things start to grow in
the garden, shops put away the bulky
knitwear and strappy sandals start
appearing on shelves.
I must say things look a bit more
promising on the fashion front for
me this year. I was so disappointed
in last years collection of bright,
vibrant colours for the warmer months
I find them impossible to blend
into my wardrobe and personally
I dont think they flatter anyones
skin tones but Im really glad
to see its all been toned down

again
this season.

I
love all the great textures out there
too far more organic in their
feel. Ive seen a return of cheese
cloths, linens and great denims. And
lace is big! Almost every top on the
market has some form of lace detail,
either on collars, cuffs or button
plackets not the full on lace of
the real gypsy look but just little
hints of it here and there. Detail
seems to be back too, things have
interesting buttons on or little tie
details here and there, with small
print fabrics taking centre stage.
Ive also seen quite a lot of white
broderie-anglais type shirts which
are a huge favourite of mine plus
the granddad collar makes a comeback.
White jeans were such a hit last year
that I think well see more of |
them
later in the season but at the moment
stonewashed denim seems to be the
thing. I think the key look this
season is going to be femininity
everything Ive seen so far just
has those girly details without
being too cute.

Theres
been a huge increase in curly
hair promos just recently
again indicating a return
of the natural, organic, wholesome
look that every now and then
fashion leans back to. Think
sun-kissed Californian girl-next-door
look and your nearly there.
Actually, I love this look,
especially on teens and twenties
its a refreshing change
from the aggressive full-on-pout
look that very often just
comes across as cheap. Look
out for the surfer-style jewellery
that really compliments this
look last years over sized
s and medallions will look
too heavy with the more delicate
styles.
Try leather thong type necklaces
with natural stone pendants
or layer smaller beaded bracelets
together in sever neutral
shades. For something with
a bit more zing invest in
some of the gorgeous turquoise
jewellery thats out there
are the moment fantastic
with white for a really sunny
look, turquoise is going to
be a big think |
again this season,
along with the sea-greens and china
blues. At a recent wedding fair
I attended almost all the guest
outfits were in beautiful shades
of these ocean colours teamed up
with plenty of white, again the
emphasis on floaty feminity in chiffons,
georgette and lacy fabrics.
Okay so its still a little cold
to actually wear any of this fabulous
stuff but get your window shopping
done early or if youre really organised
start buying pieces now and count
down them days to the warmer weather!

Want
to lift your mood? Then buy
a houseplant! A recent study showed
that caring for any tending plants
can be a great stress buster and
just seeing plants and greenery
around the home in spring-time really
does give you a lift and sense of
well being.
Turnover in garden centres increases
dramatically at Easter time regardless
of the current weather conditions
a representation of optimism and
hope for re-generation in the coming
months.

If your track record with flowering
plants isnt great then try a few
herbs on your kitchen windowsill
apparently it just has to be something
green and growing to make us feel
just that bit better! |
