Finally!
At last! Most regular readers
will know what an avid Liz Earle fan
I am. Ive been using the whole range
ever since its conception and its still
my go-to brand. Ive been hoping,
waiting and praying that Liz would eventually
branch out into the world of cosmetics
and its finally happened.
Apparently
Liz has been working on the new launch
for around 3 years and the result is
the new Liz Earle colour range and its
premier product is the fabulous sheer
skin tint. I was so exited when I heard
about it and even more exited when I
received my sample to try.
My excitement was a little modified
by a touch of nerves as I think finding
the right foundation is like searching
for the Holy Grail. After all, its
the basis for all great make-up and
the starting point to achieving a great
look. If your foundation is wrong then
nothing else will look right. For me
though, whilst I can often find a foundation
that looks right, I rarely find one
that feels right. I have very, very
dry skin and within minutes of applying
a foundation I get that awful tight,
mask-like feeling and cant wait to
remove it.
Not this one! Honestly, I was expecting
great things from Liz, as usual, and
I wasnt disappointed. I can honestly
say I couldnt feel it on my skin at
all and yet it truly gave a lovely tint
to the skin. Rather than a solid block
colour it allows the skin to show through
yet gives a really lovely, natural coverage.
As Lizs background is in beautiful
botanicals of course its chock full
of borage seed oil and natural vitamin
E which means it glides on super easily.
It really does feel like a moisturiser
on first application, in fact you may
feel at first that its a little rich,
but please dont worry, after the 1st
minute or two it settles down without
settling into any creases or wrinkles.
It comes in three lovely shades that
are really forgiving.
Again, I often have to mix and match
foundation to achieve a natural tone
but I instantly fitted into the fair
shade and it matched my own skin perfectly.
I
will also be buying the beige shade
for the summer next year-I think it
will be perfect for me with a light
tan. The sheer tint contains an SPF15
to protect the face and its certainly
light enough for those not-much-make-up
days. I especially think its formula
will really suit mature skins, when
it can be a real nightmare to find a
product that doesnt highlight any wrinkles
or feel dehydrating and powdery on the
skin. I took mine right up under the
eyes and had no problem with it sitting
into fine lines.
I had also tried a great trick to help
with redness. I occasionally have a
slight redness on my cheeks and like
to use corrective foundation just there,
but I often find them a little drying.
However, I applied the sheer tint all
over the face, then added just a tiny
dot of Cliniques Redness Correction
fluid after a minute or so just to the
cheeks and it was fantastic.
The
sheer tint allowed flexibility underneath
the slightly heavier corrector and the
result was perfect. I also applied it
to my regular under-eye concealer (which
I really need) and it also gave the
concealer flexibility and therefore
stopped it sitting in any creases.
I really think this beautiful new formula
is absolutely ideal for a day time look,
yet a slightly thicker application will
certainly give enough coverage for a
full-on evening make-up. Do give it
a try and play around with different
applications to achieve the level of
coverage you require. However if its
apply and go your after, this super
new addition to Lizs range will be
just perfect!
