As
many of us prepare to take a sunshine break,
it as well to consider how the sun will affect our
hair colour. Exposure to the sun will damage and dehydrate
the hair shaft and different hair colours will react
in different ways. |

BLONDE
is perhaps the worst sufferer from sun and sea salt.Whilst
it can create beautiful highlights on naturally fair
hair those shades from a bottle can so easily turn
a ghastly shade of green.Try to improve the condition
before you go with plenty of treatment packs and pack
a range of products particularly formulated for blondes
in your suitcase.Try John Friedas Sheer Blonde or
the PPS range to lighten and brighten hair
Revlon due a fantastic leave in treatment for while
your sunning yourself by the pool. |
BROWN
hair does not suffer too much from the sun but again,
dyed-brown hair can show signs of 'reddening' and
dehydration.Use an ash-brown colourant before holidays
to reduce red streaks and an extra-rich conditioner
with help.

RED
hair, if natural, should not give you too many problems
in the sun but coloured red hair has a tendency to
fade in sunlight.Take along a range of products containing
UV inhibitors especially tailored for redheads.
|
GREY
hair can become severely dry under sunlight and can
turn random shades of yellowish-green so try to get
it in tip-top condition before you go.A trim is advisable
as the ends will become the most brittle.Use a good
product such as Trevor Sorbies Rejuvenate, containing
cashmere and silk proteins to restore softness and
shine.
The PPS Classic blonde range is great for grey
hair as well.

In
our job we're very lucky
to be able to try many of the best products on the market. We
get to try products from all price ranges, from the ordinary
to the luxury, so it was interesting when it came up in
conversation that several of us still prefer some of the
more affordable products as our first choices. The most noticeable
fact was that almost everyone in the office had chosen to
use a non-luxury moisturiser as their favourite daily products
not as a price choice, but based purely on results. Moisturiser
seems to be everyones favourite item, and whilst we do love
to experiment with new products we almost always return
to our own 'faithful'.
Our top 3 moisturising products which we felt were reliable,
gave good results and were excellent value for money.
No 1 L'Oreal Dermo-Expertise Hydrafresh
No 2 Liz Earles Skin Repair
No 3 Nivea Q10 Range
So don't fall into the trap of believing that the most expensive
is always the best. Choosing products is a purely personal
thing and if you're completely happy with the results from
a more moderate product then stick with it - we do!
