I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but I do despair whenever a company discontinues a line that I’m devoted to.

In recent years I have lost my favourite face cream, hand cream and worst of all what I considered to be the best body lotion on the market. And now my lipsticks have bitten the bullet. Not one shade but the whole range! Surely I couldn’t have been the only devotee! If I’d have known then I would have stocked up for the next few years as I find it really difficult to find suitable lipsticks.

Either the shade is wrong, or they dry my lips or taste of wax crayon or something equally horrible. So the last few weeks have found me trawling the shops endlessly looking for a new favourite. It’s impossible to tell what a colour will be like unless tried on the lips – all that painting on the back of hands and finger tips is utterly useless.

I need to see and feel it on my mouth and yet asking for a spatula to do so only meets with much ‘tut-tut ting’ from the representative, followed by eye-rolling and sighing when I ask to try another shade. And this can only be done around three times as my lips start to look prune-like after this so hence the long, drawn-out process of finding something suitable.

I know I’m a fussy shopper but I’m tired of throwing good money after bad on unwanted make-up. I’ve thrown away more lipsticks than I’ve kept over the years but was really happy with the range I’ve now been using for at least ten years. How dare they get rid of it! Anyway, after much seeking I am finally sorted and really happy with a beautiful range from Lancτme.

There were so many gorgeous colours in the range I had chosen I decided to get one of each and really love them all. And although the girl assured me that they are not destined for the discontinued path, I think I’ll be going back next payday for a suitcase full just to be sure!

Valentines Day is nearly here and I’ve fallen in love! No, not with a man, (I’ve got one of those) but with a handbag! An absolutely gorgeous dream of a bag, fabulous shiny deep blood red, dripping with style and ooh so delicious. It’s actually a Charlie Lapson design (who designs for Desperate Housewives and I really have to have it. I’m normally a black or brown handbag girl – I do love patent and I also love all the hardware around but I think I must be going through a rebellious phase.

The last handbag I fell in love with was a vibrant green colour and sadly I talked myself out of buying it and I’ve regretted it ever since. So I’m going to go with my passion and grab this red one with both hands. I know I have to have it as I keep thinking about it in my coffee break, when I’m trying to get to sleep, in fact all the time!

I’ve mentioned it to everyone I’ve seen in the last few days so I really think it must be true love. I think that’s the secret to successful shopping – buy what you fall in love with and it will repay you time after time. The only thing is my purse is really dull and boring so I’ll now have to look for something more exciting to match!

If you’re from a large family as I am it seems to be somebody’s birthday every week. I’m constantly in need of nice cards for lots of occasions and where I live we just don’t seem to have a lot of choice.

So when my niece commented that I had sent her the same card two years running I knew it was time for a change! All regular readers know what lengths I will go to avoid going to the shops – I’m an avid internet and mail order shopper, call me lazy but I just can’t handle trekking around the town every week.
So I’ve found a really cute website for cards and gifts which are all unique and handcrafted and after receiving my first order I was absolutely delighted. So if, like me, you need something different check out www.fairymyworld.co.uk the choice is fab and I was amazed at the prices for the quality.
