It's grey, grey, grey!
Yes, the whole worlds gone grey. We're talking fashion
of course. Walking along the High Street the other
day grey is definitely the most prolific colour around
at the moment. Along with all the checks around this
season almost all the looks teamed together in the
shops incorporated the colour grey somewhere. Beautiful
grey wool trousers are all around and look fantastic
teamed up with the lovely tweeds available at the
moment. Grey as a colour is incredibly versatile and
can be put with practically any other colour.
It's also a softer option to black - especially if
you find black next to your face a little draining
as I do. If I wear black I tend to use it away from
the face, skirts, trousers etc, but I can wear grey
sweaters without the harsh contrast near to the face
without looking too drained. Grey is a completely

ageless colour too
- it looks great on any age group and can be accessorised
with so many different styles from really smart corporate
looks to lovely country casual styles.
Try putting grey with the gorgeous muted pinks that are everywhere
this autumn - pink and grey have natural affinity together
and are often teamed together - try the combination in your
make-up too, pink and grey as an eye colour combo works beautifully,
especially on pale skins. Browsing through the mail order
brochures grey is also the key colour for outerwear this season.
Whilst you might want to go for a dog tooth or bright red
coat as a statement, a grey jacket or coat is easy to slip
on with whatever you're wearing underneath and always adds
a 'smart' effect to even the most casual clothes. |

It's
the time of year to
take a look at your moisturising routine. The weather
has gone just those few degrees colder with chilly
winds that are so harmful to the face and lips. Central
heating will only add to dehydration problem so a
light - formula moisturiser won't do for most of us
at this time of year. Look for a product containing
vitamin E - I love Liz Earles Skin Repair which contains
natural vitamin E - or upgrade your usual brand to
the night range cream in that range as this will usually
have a richer formula. And pay particular attention
to the lips, which really suffer from extremes of
temperature. Try L'Occitane's Shea Butter for keeping
the lips smooth and protected.

Apply
last thing at night for lovely soft morning lips and
a very light coat before applying lipstick before venturing
out in the cold weather.

And
a lot of us forget that our nails are particularly
susceptible to cold weather symptoms and any manicurist
will tell you to wear your gloves! Cold weather leaves
nails very dry and brittle so don't leave home without
a layer of hand cream and it really is worth investing
in a good quality product such as Molten Brown's soothing
and hand lotion - in a really convenient pump dispenser
so there's no excuse, it leaves no greasy residue
and comes in a range of fantastic fragrances from
essential oils. Whatever brand you're using at the
moment the secret is to lock in the moisture before
you leave the house as trying to repair damaged skin
is a much tougher task, and with party season approaching
now is the time to prepare.

Most
of my friends know
that I am a compulsive scarf addict - I love, adore and
worship the humble scarf. Okay, well with some women its
handbags or shoes with me its scarf's. I think it stems
from the fact that I have quite a long, ballerina - style
neck and almost always wear my hair up, so in winter I
do feel the cod around my neck. So I'm in heaven at the
moment with all the superb scarf's around at the moment
and whilst I love floaty, silky chiffons, my real favourites
are proper full-blown woolly winter ones.
I recently bought the most gorgeous fluffy, silky soft
chenille scarf in black and I love it, but I also saw
some fantastic brightly coloured ones in really soft,
bobbly wool that I'm going to add to my collection. A
lovely turquoise and pink one is on my shopping list and
to brighten up those cold winter mornings.

Take a look at M&S; next time you're in the town - I was
delighted with their selection this year, so many to choose
from in such gorgeous colours and textures. Scarves are
a really easy gift to give too - almost everyone wears scarves
in every age group and there's something available for everyone
this season, and you can never have too many! |
