I always forget how much I enjoy taking a weekend break during the year, especially a spur of the moment one. Most people have just about had enough of the long winter we've had so it was lovely to feel some real warmth in the sun this week.

Taking advantage of the spring sunshine we popped off to the beautiful Welsh coat last weekend and I can honestly say it was just what we needed to recharge and re-energies. Standing on the Great Orme gazing out to sea on a wonderfully calm day I could really feel a great sense of wellbeing.

And shopping in beautiful Betwsy-Coed was an absolute treat, as was the fantastic welcome and service at our hotel.

If you're anything like me then shopping outside your hometown always seems much more exciting - the shops seem to have everything you want and plenty of it, as my empty purse will testify! I fell in love with the fabulous Lazy Jacks range of casual clothes that are sailing inspired but can be work equally well by landlubbers like me.

It's often difficult to find good quality smart/casuals in interesting colours and designs, all too often we reach for the same old t-shirts and sweat pants that have seen better days.

Sometimes when we shop we end up focusing on the gorgeous dress to go out in or the perfect heels to go with that fab dress.

In actual fact I love dressing down at weekends but don't want to look scruffy so Lazy Jacks and Seasalt are two brands I really love. Both brands originate in Cornwall, I think, but plenty of lovely shops in Wales had stock so I came home with lots of goodies. I also love Seasalts bags and accessories, really relaxed and fun, such a change from my 'serious' handbags.

I'm sure I can find a place for one somewhere in my collection! If you've got room for some casual clothing in your wardrobe then take a look on the web to find your nearest stockists.

If you're looking for an impromptu break then it needn't cost a fortune - take a look at Premier Inn's website, they have masses of really great quality accommodation at fantastic prices and are spread pretty far and wide throughout the country.

There's bound to be one near where you want to be. If you're looking for a touch more luxury then a Best Western maybe more you're cup of tea.

We have some wonderful countryside in Britain, excellent architecture and history and breathtaking coastal locations.

Taking a short break can really recharge your batteries and give you a fresh new look at life, and you may just add a few new items to your wardrobe!
