Views & tips from your side of the counter........
Can it be true? I can hardly believe it but its just possible that the whole BLONDE thing may be over at last. In the past five years it seems that the whole world's gone blonde, from young teenager's right through to grandma's. Brunettes have rarely been seen in the glossies, on TV, anywhere in fact. But being privy to what's hot for the future, I can tell you that brown is definitely the new blonde. It's been seen on the catwalks, in top hair magazines and in beauty advertising . Don't take my word for it - watch out for new TV advertising for hair products, John Frieda's frosted browns for instance, flick through mail order catalogues, fashion mags and you'll see glossy brunettes everywhere. Our mail-bag is full of people who now want to ditch the bronzed,
beach - baby look for something a little more subtle, possibly more in-keeping with the whole 'vintage' feel to fashion and home trends that are so hot at the moment. Being a brunette myself I can only celebrate this move - perhaps I'll be back in fashion again - and as I absolutely love all things vintage I'm really look forward to this season!

I really love all the jewellery 'extras' that are about at the moment

Wearing crystal brooches pinned to a scrunchie is a lovely way to dress up your hair, and pinning one to your handbag is tres chic. I was given a lovely little dazzler to attach to my mobile for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Being a bit sensitive to some jewellery, this is a great way for me to add a touch of sparkle without it actually touching my skin. So if you're a little prone to sensitivity, get into all the beautiful brooches available and jazz up those boring outfits with a touch of sparkle!

Women often complain that their skin gives more trouble in winter than in summer - it feels tighter and looks just a bit dull. But when you consider what it has to put up with in winter its hardly surprising. Central heating is an absolute nightmare for skin, really dehydrating it and harsh outdoor weather makes things worse. A
good moisturiser will usually protect against the chilly winds but don't forget to use one with SPF in as winter sun's rays are just as harmful to the face. The best way to counteract central heating is to increase your intake of water. We take it for granted that in the summer months we need more fluids but if you are in a constantly centrally heated environment drinking plenty is equally important for the skin. Also, place humidifiers on each of the radiators and top the water up regularly - you'll be surprised how often you'll need to, a good indication of how dry the air is. And be sure to exfoliate regularly - both body and face, to improve skin's appearance, those flaky, snakeskin legs are highly unattractive! Body brushing at this time of year is excellent, as with the cold weather circulation tends to be a little sluggish, and don't forget a brisk ten minute walk will soon bring a glow to your cheeks.
