I
love this time of year! It's so
full of promise. Everything everywhere
is just about to bloom, all the new lambs
are being born and we're beginning to
shed a few layers ourselves.
It's amazing how our mood changes when
the days become longer and the sun begins
to show itself - everything seems do-able
and our levels of optimism begin to rise.
We begin to spring clean or turn out our
wardrobes, out with the old and in with
the new. Even our laundry begins to change
colour, not so many blacks and greys and
more of the pinks and yellows.
Surveys show that even our sense of smell
changes - perfume houses know that the
stronger, heavier scents will be left
on the shelf after winter in favour of
the lighter florals and fresher, ozonic
spa-type fragrances that we opt for at
this time of year.
Although gym membership is at its highest
at new year, actual attendance goes up
at this time of year in preparation for
the summer holiday season. Leg waxing
appointments increase and sales of epilators
go up just now. All these facts show that
we are on much more positive frame of
mind as soon as spring has sprung. This
year of course we have royal wedding fever
which is lovely to see. I know myself
that my whole routine changes about now
and I start swapping products into my
daily regime.
I
swap my heavier duty body creams for the
fabulous Energizing Body Gel from Liz
Earle. It's fantastic for waking up with
those sluggish areas such as thighs and
upper arms and you really can notice a
difference after just one application.
Its gorgeous smell always re-invigorates
me and reminds me that better weather
is soon to come. It's also a really optimistic
fragrance that lasts all day long so it
really lifts the spirits whilst it's doing
its work. In the coming weeks I'll be
switching to my lightening moisturizer
as I definitely find my skins demands
are different in the coming season. I
more down to a gel cream formula from
L'Oreal's Hydra Fresh range in the day
and Decleors Hydra Floral at night.
If
you're having an early holiday this year
then you could get yourself in the mood
with Boots soap and glory range most of
which have that gorgeous sun-tan oil fragrance
that always reminds me of summer. Wash
with Clean on me and Follow with the Riteous
Butter and you'll be transported to a
hot sunny beach all day long!
If you're after springtime accessories
then for pure indulgence check out the
Lulu Guiness website. I've fallen in love
with her spring collection which is all
about gingham and daisies, with beautiful
handbags and purses featuring hippy -chic
flower motifs that will bring a smile
to your face. If the prices are out of
reach then check out the high street alternatives,
daisies and florals are big this season,
as is pure white.
If
you can go head to toe plain white then
team up a white bag an accessories with
a white t-shirt over jeans and you'll
still look so on trend. Check out the
Lola Rose collection for great necklaces
and bracelets in white and almost all
handbag collections will feature a white
bag at this time of year. Go easy on the
Smokey eyed look this season.
The emphasis for both make up and hair
just now is natural. Pretty pale pinks
on the eyelids with a softer liner above
the lashes are this season's trend. For
a lovely natural look try the Boots natural
collection which is fabulously priced.
We particularly like the little eye shadow
pots and soft pink is a really pretty
shade that's very now. If you need a pop
of colour in your routine then the big
story this spring/summer is coral. You
can't go wrong with coral lips and nails
to accompany the oranges that are around
in fashion.
Enjoy the optimism that spring brings,
try something new. Small changes can really
boost your mood and kick- start the wonderful
summer season to come.
