I
seem to have done more than my fair share
of travelling
around Britain this year both on business
and for pleasure. And somewhere along
the line I've managed to fit in a fair
amount of shopping too. I love shopping
in new places - a chance to see what's
hot where and who's got what in stock.
Somehow, finding an absolute treasure
on your travels really makes it all the
more special.
Even more special when you don't even
know the name of the place you're in!
Taking a wrong turning near Glastonbury
recently I saw a sign for one of my Mecca's
- a Shopping Village. I'm addicted to
these heavenly Outlet places and I'm always
ready to pick up my next absolute bargain.
Pulling into this haven I had absolutely
no idea what town or village I was in
but it was like a magnet drawing me in.
I
didn't care that I was a little lost I
just wanted to shop, I could find my way
later. There they were before me all my
usual favourites all in one place. The
sun was beating down and even just sitting
enjoying a cappuccino at those little
outdoor kiosks they always have gives
me a feeling of being somewhere exotic.
I wandered around enjoying every minute
and came away with the most fabulous Radley
handbag and shopping bag that had my name
on them. I'd seen both these bags in my
local department store at full price and
loved them then but I shall love them
even more knowing I got them virtually
half price.
When I'd had my fill of shops, I headed
back to the car and checking my map discovered
I was in a village called Street. I'd
never heard of it before (apologies if
you live there) but I'll certainly be
calling again when I'm in that part of
the world.
Travelling
around staying in hotels does have one
drawback for me though. Full English Breakfast!
I just can't resist. Although I hardly
touch breakfast at home, I'm lucky if
I grab a piece of toast and I certainly
never dream of getting a frying pan out
but somehow the thought of somebody cooking
bacon and eggs with all the trimmings
and serving it to me is just too appealing.
I wake at the crack of dawn and can't
stop thinking about it - to me its all
part and parcel of a holiday. I could
refuse of course and help myself to some
yoghurt and muesli but somehow it doesn't
have the same appeal does it? No, its
bacon for me I'm afraid and two weeks
of extra exercise when I get home to work
off the excess pounds I've more or less
come to the end of my travel for this
year now though so its time I knuckled
down to some hard work.
I
seem to have a really busy schedule work-wise
for the rest of the year - I think the
next few months are often the busiest
for most of us. Dare I say Christmas will
he upon us before we know it and this
week the weather appears to be reminding
us of that fact? Possibly an excuse for
another shopping trip as I definitely
need some new Emu boots this year and
I'm certainly in need of some long sleeved
pyjamas. Come to think of it some of my sweaters
are looking a bit tired too so I might
just take a look at whats out there for
the coming season - it'll be a good excuse
to show off my fabulous new shopping bag!
