I
really enjoy dipping in and out of different
ranges
across the beauty spectrum and I'm loving
Clinique at the moment. Clinique's been
around a long time of course and has always
been a well-loved brand. The formulas
use the latest in ingredients and techniques
and the staff representatives are always
knowledgeable and well trained.
If
you are moving from a High Street brand
to a more specialized salon - type brand
such as Clinique, it's always worth having
a consultation first. The advice is free
and it will enable you to try different
products and really find out what will
suit you before you buy.
I recently had a consultation in my local
Boots store with a very beautiful representative
who was extremely helpful and patient.
I came away with just the right things
that I was looking for and am really pleased
with the results. I needed a very gentle
exfoliator for my delicate, fair, sensitive
skin and their 7 Day Scrub Cream is super
gentle and suits me perfectly. It's fragrance-free
and can be used daily if you like to,
although I find once or twice a week enough
for me.
At this time of year I always step-down
with my day time moisturiser, using a
lighter formula yet still with great hydration,
I found the gorgeous Dramatically Different
moisturizing lotion is perfect for summer.
My skin is super-dry but this lightweight
lotion still delivers maximum hydration
with no greasy heaviness or shine - also
a perfect base for make-up, ideal in the
warmer weather.
At
night I still like to use a richer formula
but again, during the hot summer nights
I didn't want anything too rich in oils.
Cliniques Youth Surge Night is absolutely
perfect for me. Again, its fragrance free
so won't upset delicate skin and has a
lovely smoothing effect that lasts till
morning. If you're looking for a really
gentle, yet effective eye-make-up remover
I was very impressed with Cliniques rinse-off
lotion.
I'm a stickler for good quality cleansing
products and can't count the number of
times I've seen damage to the eye area
due to inadequate cleansing. Watching
young girls (and some not so young!) pulling
and tugging with cheap cleansing wipes
around the eyes really makes me cringe!
Always, always use a good quality eye
make-up remover, especially with the amounts
of mascara we are all wearing at the moment.
Apply the lotion to 2 cotton pads and
gently sweep downwards over the eyes until
everything is removed then splash with
warm water to rinse. I had no irritation
from this formula at all and was very
pleased with the results.
I
also invested in two types of foundations.
I love the new tinted moisturiser for
those 'no make-up' days. It gently evens
out skin tones and adds very light coverage
for a really natural look. For more coverage
I opted for the Redness Solutions foundation
with SPF 15 which will provide more coverage
yet still feels beautifully light on the
skin. As I've got older I've found a tendency
to slight reddening on my cheeks and forehead
and although I have very good skin, the
colour and tone is changeable and a bit
uneven.
I find this formula superb at covering
and neutralizing the redness, giving lovely
natural, more youthful looking tones.
The Clinique representative was extremely
helpful in this area as she managed to
find exactly the right shade for me and
really listened to what it was I wanted
from my foundation. This formula was her
suggestion and she was absolutely right!
I
was ready to replace many of my routine
products but don't feel that you always
need to throw it all away and start again.
Sometimes that's necessary, but if you're
happy with certain products then just
add one or two items to your routine to
achieve better results.
Always take advantage of the advice on
offer and never feel rushed into choosing
products. I never buy a foundation for
instance without wearing it on my face
for a whole day. I want to see it in daylight
and I need to know how it will feel throughout
the day, will it last etc. Put it through
its paces before you buy and if it's not
right for you then try again and discuss
with the representative what you liked
or didn't like.
When you do buy at item always ask for
a sample of something else that you fancy
from the range as you may find another
new favourite.
