HOW
TO - USE HENNA AT HOME
- Mix the powder
to a paste by gradually adding boiling water.
- Leave to cool to
a pleasant temperature then apply to freshly shampooed, towel-dried
hair. Massage well in remembering to wear rubber gloves. If the ends
of your hair are dry, they will be porous and soak up the colour faster
so do not comb through until towards the end of processing time.
- Cover your hair
with a plastic cap and leave for up to 45 minutes, checking the colour
every 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly lifting hair away from scalp to make
sure all residue is washed away.
HENNA TIPS
- Do test Henna on
a few strands of hair and check the timing results before applying to
whole head.
- Do not use Henna
if your hair has been coloured or permed within the last month.
- Always rinse chlorinated
water from Henna hair immediately after swimming.
- It is best to use
the same brand of Henna for subsequent applications.
- Remember that traces
of Henna will stay in hair until it grows our so if you want any chemical
process done you must tell your stylist about the Henna.
WHAT IS HENNA?
Henna comes from the
dried leaves of the Egyptian private Lawsonia alba. It has conditioning
and colour properties and has been used in Europe since around 1890. Henna
is a coating dye which means it stains the cuticle layer of the hair.
Colour fades gradually so subsequent applications are needed every six
to eight weeks to intensify tone and condition. Hair cannot be lightened
with Henna and is not usually suitable for hair with more than twenty
per cent grey, or hair that is bleached or highlighted.

TOP
TIP
Update
a straight, sleek cut by wearing your parting off centre
with the hair ends flicked out. Blow dry smooth with a large
round brush concentrating on the ends, spray with hairspray
then blast with hairdryer whilst hair is wrapped around
brush.
Achieve
Victoria Beckham's famous spiky crop, which works on any
hair - fine to thick - and gives extra height to a short
style. Simply back comb hair at the crown and separate with
a little wax, comb the fringe and back area flat with wax
through the front for a wispy fringe; finish the style with
hairspray to hold it firmly in place.
